SNAKE!

I was outside in my backyard earlier, and I noticed that the rain had filled up one of my plant's pots.  I went to grab the pot, to empty the rain water out of it, and I don't know how I didn't notice this before I went to grab the pot, but I touched a black snake!!! I immediately started screaming, and ran away!

I'm not sure if she had been around the pot, or behind it, and she moved as I was grabbinbg for the pot, but it sure did scare me!

My boyfriend came running outside to see if everything was okay, he figured it was a bug that I was screaming about! I made him walk back over with me, and to my surprise it was still there! So, I went iside and grabbed the camera!  fileId:3096224744287114;size:inter;

 I think this is the same snake that lives on the other side of the yard. She lives in this little room we have outside on the back of the house. fileId:3096224744287119;size:inter;

She is on a ladder that I use as 'garden decor'. I put flower pots, and other little things on the steps. fileId:3096224744287125;size:inter;

 

 

You can sort of tell in this picture how far I stood, I'm glad I didn't have to get any closer!! The pot that is in the front of the ladder, (with the little palm tree on it), is the one I was trying to pick uo when I noticed the snake !

Blacksnakes are handy to have around. They eat rats and mice. They're not venomous. Good neighbors.

What about the tadpoles? Are they still alive and kicking? Did I miss a third update? Are they little frogs yet?

I had a snake once and named him Mr. Guts. He was one of the best pets I ever had. He was a boa constrictor and by the time I got rid of him he was over 4 feet long. He never complained or whined. I only had to clean him 2 times a month and he only ate 1 time a month. He taught me a lot about snakes.

Great photos. The snake is a good one to have around. You'll get used to seeing him once in a while. We have a black snake and a shy Ring Snake that only comes out at night. Anything that eats bugs and spiders is a good friend of mine.

I love snakes! You should have seen what my Mom did when I brought in a snake skin I found outside in a field behind our house. She was in the bathroom and I came in and said, "Hey Mom, look what I found outside!" She screamed and slammed the door in my face!

Tadpoles are still alive and kickin'! The snake hasn't eaten them!! He'll probably wait until they are frogs...horrible thought, since I love frogs!

If nobody eat the tadpoles, you'll have too much frog later on, so I guess the snake just there to help you wean the frog number.

Not a big fan of snakes. We have had a snake keep making an appearance. However, we haven't seen it in a while.

I think you have a southern black racer, he was probally up there after a lizard, which they love, be forwarded these guys have nasty attitudes even when little. They are not poison but just like to bite if you try to pick him up and yup he will eat your frogs may even eat tad poles they love being around water. They are beautiful snakes and nice to have around just give him his space

I love snakes - black snakes are harmless and they do good things for your yard - I think someone above already said that part.

I have been browsing your pix - very nice pictures. I am a dog and cat guy so I'm partial to the animal pictures.

Oh - I noticed Angela's comment as I was leaving. she's right about the racers. I've been bitten a few times by one -but after you cuddle them awhile they're okay.

Well, don't worry...I certainly won't be getting close enough to get bit! (And definately won't be cuddling with them any time soon!)

Hey cool pictures, but I would have ran as fast as you did had I seen that thing in my garden.

My dad had a pet snake in Viet Nam that they used to feed chickens to, big ol' guy. Will see if I can find the picture to bring for show and tell...lol!!
