I had started a painting of Sunflowers, about a year ago this month. After what seems like a lifetime of change which further represented my need to finish this work, I added the last stroke today. Recently, I have regained some focus on my work in an effort to try and find a balance between new mother and working artist.
If you aren't familiar with how this all started, please see the following three articles about why I chose to paint sunflowers...
Sunflowers as a subject (1st part of the article).
Sunflowers Painting (2nd part of the article).
Sunflowers Painting (3rd part of the article).
After the 3rd part of the essay here is how the work progressed:

For a few months, I have been staring at the incomplete work and considering heavily how I would finish. I had the inspiration to sit down to do it about a week ago, but other responsibilities came first. In some bizzare instance of a deep recognition of my need to finish, B supplied me with fresh flowers without my asking.
Knowing that he would be away for a few days, I waited to begin. (I knew I could leave the house a mess, and focus only on eating, the baby, and painting!) So, I set off with the end in sight. To ensure that I would at least finish this painting, even if I was up all night, I purchased a showcase on Etsy.com. Basically, for 24 hours my shop will be featured on the art spotlight, guaranteeing me more traffic. I knew I needed more work to be uploaded for this spotlight to be effective. (my shop is skgart dot etsy dot com).
Finally, I got to it! I layed out my paint and got to work. Then this happened:

Then it happened again, and again, and again.
Despite my greatest efforts, I was unable to continue to photograph my painting as I progressed through the stages of color and work, however; I finished!!
So without further ado...
