We have had our foster cats long past the amount of time for them to be considered "abandoned" and so now legally they belong to us. I have decided to keep them rather than to rehome them, just to be sure they have a safe, warm, and loving home. I don't really trust a new owner to treat them right and to provide them with any medical care they might need. This past week I took the two cats to the vet to start their vaccinations. Poor Samson had to be stuck with the needle three times because he has such a tough hide that it's hard for the vet to get the needle through his skin. The vet listened to Samson's lungs and they were clear but raspy sounding. The vet said that Samson has asthma! He said Samson will probably be an asthmatic cat all his life. Samson is only about 7 months old right now. However, the vet didn't think the asthma would cause Samson any problems. But, he said if Samson ever starts having trouble breathing to call a vet right away. Blaze got a clean bill of health and her shot went okay. She is about six months old now. Blaze was only a little over six pounds but Samson was eleven pounds, even though he doesn't look very big. Both cats have appointments for Tuesday morning to be spayed/neutered. Then we will be able to allow the cats to be together in the same room without worry about Blaze getting pregnant. For the past three months, we have had to keep the cats separated so no kittens would be conceived. So, it looks like our cat family has gone from 10 to 12 cats. I sure hope no one will "donate" any more cats to us!

we have had a few animals with asthma. and when they would have spells i would give a neb treatment to them . I think the funnest thing i ever gave a treatment to was my pet rat he seamed to really like them
It is rather surprising, but our pets suffer many of the same ailments as our children in this society. Allergies and asthma are not as uncommon as one might think among animals. I've even had a little bird with allergies who had to be treated with Benedryl liquid (very small doses, of course) and my pet pup also has allergies -- not unlike my daughter who is asthmatic.
Please keep us updated to Simon's condition. And, congratulations on the newest additions to your family!
IM glad you are doing better. Our foster cats had cost us over $500 whew...
Most Expensive free cats we ever had!
