A SHINING MOMENT...

  Dear Family and Friends,  

Hope you and yours are well.   

I am writing about my literary website The Shine Journal which features "VOICES FROM INSIDE"  (VFI)http://www.voicesfrominside.org  for the month of November.  VFI is an organization which supports the writing of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women.  

I would appreciate it if you would let people know about this effort. This very special issue is up now. http://www.theshinejournal.com   

Please note that November also marks the first annual short fiction contest. Called "Let's See Your Shorts", it's for stories of 1000 words or fewer excluding the title. Please tell the writers you know about Shine ( and whisper  this message to yourself as well!) and about the contest by directing them to the site as well.  

I have been getting mail from Gather so let me be clear: If it has ever been published anywhere, it can't be submitted. This is because it is possible that your work may have been seen by others including our judges at some point. Then there could be a perceived bias for or against the work. 

If you have written something that HAS NEVER been published or seen by anyone else on GATHER or anywhere else at any time, then it would be okay.

But if was published on Gather or any other site/place and then you "un-published"it, it would  still be INELIGIBLE for the contest.
