Hi Gather how are you all this beautiful Sunday Morning?
We would like to share our exciting news with our Gather friends so here it goes.
My hubby was suppose to deploy the middle of January which was going to be a big adjustment that we had been getting ourselves ready for ,until Wednsday David got a phone call. He was informed that he would not be going on the deployment in JAnuary, which is how he began to tell me.As i walked in the door from running some errons he had a distrat look on his face and the first thing I thought was the kids really ran him down.He began to tell that he would not be deploying like we thought and the first thing i thought was oh no what happend. He proceeds to tell me that we are moving. So right there my jaw dropped and I say where. We had been wanting off this base and go somewhere new so my excitment is to where when he says how do you feel about Japan.WOW what a shock, so needless to say we are moving next year to Kadena,Japan for 4 years.WIsh us luck lol I am scared out of my mind lol.But good things are is that we will be in a wonderful place and get to see things we never thought we would ever see in our life time. Thanks for your supoort and if anyone has any feedback please write me.Thanks Gather

Second, Japan !! That is so cool. My dad served in Okinawa before I was born, I wish I had been around !
Best of luck to you guys, and see this as an opportunity of a lifetime.
CONGRATS on the news!!
Good luck with the move!!!
Take some of the tours. The military tour takes you to all the places from World War two. The caves, museum, and the park cemetary that takes your breath away. The huge wooden Buddah is also there. It's called the Peace Park.
The Pineapple farm is to die for. Candies, baked goods, wine, etc.
There is Shuri Castle, and Ryukyu Mura - it's like our pioneer villages. They put on dances too. Try the sweetpotatoe ice cream. Their sweetpotatoes are purple.
Sorry to go on & on but I loved the place. You will too.
I have a friend, retired Navy Master Chief who lived in Okinawa for a couple of years before moving to FL, then to TN where we met him and his family and they became our dearest friends. I will ask him about the church he attended while there and if it is close enough for you to go, hey, you'll be set!
I am excited for you, but at the same time, I will "miss" y'all!
One bit of ancient wisdom I remember him telling is a parable:
Two fools live at the foot of Mount Fujiyama.
One has never journeyed to the top,
the other has gone twice.
