So You Think Interest in Baseball is less and less?

I just love baseball, and I am an all time Yankees fan. They're comin' on! They have such a loyal albeit obnoxious fan base. I am one of the obnoxious ones.

uuugh I just think the rules are so dumb...like you steal bases? whaaa!?

I love baseball and watch as often as I can. Even the local minor league team that gets air time on one of the local channels.

Our Tigers sell out lots of games...even when televised at home...

I love baseball and I also watch as often as I can. I think the media is hyping football more than baseball. Why? I don't know.

I've always read box scores but don't watch games.

in many cities the large parks have been torn down and replaced by smaller parks. Now they sell-out the smaller parks, so they raise ticket prices. Baseball games used to be something that families could do; now they're too expensive at the smaller parks.

Very good point, Sue Ellen - but EVERYTHING is going up. Movies - babysitters - gas - might as well enjoy a good game!

Baseball used to be as American as hot dogs and apple pie .... then came "the strike" where grown men were demanding huge salaries .... NOT to continue to act like role models for the youth of America .... but to continue playing a game that they supposedly love, while acting out, being childish and definitely NOT being someone that I would want anyone in my family to emulate ....

As one player put it at the time of the strike [and here, I am paraphrasing b/c I can't remember it EXACTLY] .... "I would be out there for the love of the game ... even if I were only making $9 Million to play" ........ That is $8M more than the average citizen earns in a LIFETIME ..... and, YES, this still ticks me off ....

So, now I don't bother to watch overpaid "athletes" who show extremely poor sportsmanship ........ they can continue to please other people, but I have had it ...... I haven't watched a game since the strike .... and I don't have any future plans to watch another one ........... I think I would rather watch the little league games where the players REALLY DO play for the love of the game .....

well Tom ... in an ordered world, things are supposed to make sense .... but more often than not ... they do not make sense .....

athletes have always been role models for the young .... until they began behaving in such an undisciplined fashion ......... and, for that matter, movie stars also used to be role models ........ WHY? ... primarily because they ARE in the public eye and they are invited into the homes of most Americans via TV or movies ....

Being famous ...... for whatever reason ...... carries with it a great social responsibility .... one that most of the people today either ignore or don't care about ......... a responsibility to the people / fans who look up to them and emulate them .... a responsibility to be a good role model b/c their lives ARE under a microscope and everything that these people DO .... has an impact on young, impressionable people ........

How sad that there are so few role models left in this world .....
