In San Bernardino, I love the Mexico Restaurant. I also order the shredded beef chimichanga because it comes with lots of guacomole. That's where I'm most likely to take visitors to my house to.

OK....For true local flavor....Without a doubt....K-Pauls (Paul Prudomme's original restaurant, here in New Orleans) and Commander's Palace and last but not least Ruth's Chris Steak House.....
The Space Needle is nice if you want to impress people and the view is spectacular. The food has gotten a lot better over the years as well.
There is a little place in Mill Creek called Thai-a-Rama, but despite the name the food is great. Some of the best Thai I ever had.
And no trip would be complete without a trip to the Dixie Diner where The Man holds court with the best southern barbecue anywhere and a specialty hot sauce that will literally blow your face off, but damn it's good.
For Italian food, I would have to say Carrabba's in Hickory, NC.
For seafood, we like Red Lobster in Hickory, NC. It is the best we can get around here! LOL
For steak we like Chili's in Hickory, NC.
For just plain good eating, Cracker Barrel in Hickory, NC.
There are not many decent places to eat in Morganton, so we usually end up in Hickory.
Tink-a-Taco is a little greasy spoon type diner that has absolutely THE best mexican food. The one on Potranco outside Loop 1604 is the one we go to, fast service, nice people, and the best food, reasonably priced!

Another great place is in Pinole now and is called China House! I like to order the seafood soup and rice noodles. Every single dish will have you oohing and aahing if you allow yourself the pleasure every morsel of food prepared there will offer you!
In San Francisco, there is a buffet downtown across from the Main Library!
In Chinatown, you can buy dim sum and even if you only have a few dollars, you will enjoy the food. I like to look for restaurants where little to no English is spoken! That way the food is no the Americanized version but the most authentic and usually cheaper too! Down the street from the Chinatown Public Library, is a great place where you can buy dim sum as low as 3 for $1.10.
In the mission district of S.F., I like to stop at El Toñayense Taqueria, and compra una taco, carne asada! I was atttending the nearby City College when I dicovered the place.
In the East Bay, right across from City Hall, San Pablo is a new place that originated in S.F., then expanded to include this place. It is called Tortas Y Tortillas #2. Prices are reasonable and the food is great! I savor the pork taco and sip el vampiro! It is delicioso and gives me my fruits and veggies for the day.
Applebee's - Steak w/ a salad - anywhere
and there is this local place called
Chicken Mary's - Fried Chicken and onion rings, are the best,
also, another local

place, to upscale places. But where I eat the most when I go out, is the
"Olive Garden." It is within walking distance of my house, and like they
say, "when you are here, you are family." God bless, rpw
The other place I eat around here is in the next town north, Middletown, and it's about the halfway point between home and work for me, so I get a lot of take-out there. It's called Ching Tao, and they're the best Chinese restaurant on Aquidneck Island. As far as I'm concerned they make the best Hunan dishes anywhere. Oh Lord, do I love that hot garlic sauce!
But for a treat and a change of pace, Craigie St. Bistro in Cambridge is great for amazing food that's a level above what I can do myself (I don't have a connection in France for fresh truffles, for instance). And I love Indian food, New Mother India in Waltham, MA, is a favorite.
As far as local food, I just LOVED the Brass Lantern up here in Houghton Lake, Michigan, but it is now a frickin' WALGREENS!!!!
If you're ever in Northern Michigan, there's a little town called Lake George, near Farwell and Harrison, that serves the absolutely best bar food; ya gotta try their mushroom swiss burger!
Monterrey's: cheese dip and cheese enchiladas Greenville SC
Max and Ermas: tortilla soup Charlotte NC
Villa: Pizza Gastonia NC
Out? Well, let's just say that I've worked in restaurants...it's like going to the sloppiest person you know and eating at their house. Few restaurants are careful about how they handle food or clean up their work areas, regardless of what 'ratings' they have posted. They are pretty much rated 'on the curve'
American & Seafood - Carrol's Creek: 410 Severn Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403 (http://www.carrolscreek.com/). Not inexpensive, but great food, location and views. Sometimes it is hard to get in for brunch on weekends, but it is a fun place.
Sushi - Whole Foods Market (I know it is unusual, but they have good Sushi...): 1440 P St. NW, Washington D.C. 20005 (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/). You can buy Sushi to go, or stay in the store in their Sushi bar. I really like their selection / ambiance and it certainly beats the regular work week lunch options.
Cafe like / Everything else: Panera Bread Bakery Cafe: 3921 Bowie Town Center
Bowie, MD 20716 (http://www.panerabread.com/). They have a lot of inexpensive good food, good coffee and good pastries / bagels, as well as free WiFi.

Sadly, I don't get out too often. One reason is a fairly tight budget. The other is that I made the mistake of being a good cook...so my boyfriend always says "Why spend the money to go out when you can make it just as well at home?" Is that a compliment????
In & out burger- good burger place
China buffet- all you can eat chinese food
Danny D's- good breakfast place

In Salem Missouri, Stephens Steak House is all-you-can-eat home cooking. If you like floating the river, hiking, and caves, this is an awesome place to go.
In Portland, Maine the Weathervane is the absolute very best seafood I have ever eaten.
Carraige Inn - Elizabeth, PA
Zapatas - Pelham, AL
Cozumel - Pelham, AL

Sushi of Naples - All types of Sushi, great Miso soup - Pasadena, CA
Good Times Pita Kitchen - Chicken Kebob Plate - Pasadena, CA
Amy's Patio Cafe - Blueberry Pancakes - Altadena, CA
Those are just a few of the places that I love...
For hot wings/buffalo wings, I like a place called Fricker's. The one on Woodman Lane in Dayton, Ohio is the best location I've been to, followed closely by the one on Chambersburg Road in Huber Heights, Ohio. We always order drumettes in "hot" sauce, potato wedges, and unsweetened iced tea. They have loaded brew city fries that are really good as well.
For Mexican, I like a place called Rio Bravo in Mason, West Virginia. I usually order the fajitas and the queso blanco cheese dip. I have tried their Camarones a la Diabla (Devil Shrimp) and they were excellent, but almost too hot for me to eat. They have a good freshly made salsa for the chips as well.
As far as Chinese food, the local places aren't all that great. China One in Gallipolis, Ohio and the buffet in Athens, Ohio are both pretty good.
The local place is Peking Buffet in Mason, West Virginia and they are acceptable, but not great. I like their General Tso's chicken and Hot & Sour soup (carry out). The shrimp egg rolls are good.
For BBQ, I like a place called River City Smokehouse in Gallipolis, Ohio. They have excellent pulled pork sandwiches. They leave bottles of BBQ sauce on the tables so you can pick what you like and add as much as you want.
I also like a place called Smokey Bones in Dayton, Ohio. They are owned by the same company as Red Lobster and Olive Garden. Anyway, they have a couple really good sauces. Everything I have had there has been good. Their specialty is the fresh donuts for dessert.
For pizza, there is a place called Hoagie's Pizza in Dayton, Ohio that is really good. They also have a sandwich called a spider that is well worth it.
Dunaway's in Troy, Ohio has the best roast beef sandwiches I have ever had. They are huge, hand carved roast beef sandwiches, worth every penny. You have to order pickles to go with them because their pickles are really good. The place is an Irish pub, so children aren't really welcome in the evenings, but the carry out is worth the effort.
Locally, for home cookin' there is Millie's in Pomeroy, Ohio (Bradbury). The food is delicious and the portions are huge. Price is totally reasonable.
In Huntington, West Virginia, there is an Indian food buffet that is really good, but I can't remember the name of it.
I also liked an Italian place called Il Pasticcio. I had their squid linguini alfredo with shrimp and broccoli and it was excellent. I don't know if they are still open or not. They were a higher end restaurant. The fruit pizza was also very good.
Elizabeth's on 37th had excellent food, but I never actually ate at the restaurant. I had it through several different catered affairs. Everything I had was excellent. Chef Elizabeth Terry is terrific and has at least one cookbook out now.
Mrs. Wilke's Boarding House is another place that I never actually ate in the restaurant, but had the food at catered events and from their "back door" carry out. Gotta have the fried chicken. It is excellent.
Wang's Chinese restaurant had excellent carry out. We always ordered from the one in City Market. Everything was excellent.
For pizza, try Vinnie Van Gogo's. It was very good. Delivery is very local because it is done on bicycle. They are located in City Market. Next to the Crepe Cafe', another excellent place to eat. They make the crepes while you watch. Order any flavor and enjoy. (Not sure if Crepe Cafe' is still open).
The Pirate's House was overrated. The food was ok, but their best feature is the ambviance (sp?). The building was used to film a Blackbeard movie and it is said that there are pirate tunnels below the restaurant. They boast a 40 item dessert menu, but I never stayed long enough to order from it.
Huey's on River Street has really good New Orlean's style food. I highly recommend the shrimp or oyster po boys.
That's about all I can think of at the moment.
BUT my all time fav resturant is a little MEX resturant in KUNA IDAHO!

Milford, CT has a ton of great restaurants , StoneBridge( Seafood, Steaks), SBC( Seafood,Steaks, Bella Napoli( nice local pizza place), Scribners( loved their Catfish Lobster Piccata, catfish was breaded in a white wine sauce covered in capers and picked lobster meat) Too bad though, last time I was in Scribners they replaced the catfish with talipia. Sloppy Jose's for Mexican, they've been there since 1948, Tung Hing II has best Chinese in town...Archie Moore's makes the best buffalo wings, they even sell the sauce in the local super markets.

In Lacey I love Lylan - a Vietnamese restaurant with wonderful Pho and Chicken Curry.
Also in Lacey, WA is a great family owned mexican restaurant (actually there are three of them but we like the one in Hawk's Prairie) called Mayan.
