I know it is cheaper and most of the time healthier, but sometimes, I just don't feel like making dinner at home. Going out gives us a chance to get away from the phone, television, and random people showing up. It gives us a time to enjoy one another. I like the different things you can get while eating out because many times, I would never buy those ingredients for the two of us. I like not having dishes to do after a long day. So, yes, I know I should eat dinner at home more often, but I simply don't want to. We eat out at least 4 or more times a week. Sometimes a nice meal, sometimes just subs or Chinese food. Are we alone in this? What types of places do the rest of you go out to? How many times a week? I am curious if we are a majority or minority!

Last night we had turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, etc... The guys deep fried the turkeys and we ate with neighbors (9 of us total).
I work a full time job, and run I also own and operate an Italian pizzeria/ restaurant(no giggling now). And..I don't WANT pizza or lasagne....let's face it, it's too accesible. I'm around it all day, or all night ...
Many nights , finishing my day at after 8 pm...I'm just too exhausted to make dinner for my older teen boys. The cooking doesn't bother me as much as the cleaning up. When I ask my sons to clean up, they do...but in another time frame then the "here and now". Since I hate dishes in the sink at bedtime, and REALLY hate them still there when I get home from work the following day...and since argueing is even more exasperating.... I cave in. Sanity dictates it.
On good weeks, I may cook enough on the nights I do make dinner, to use the leftovers in another meal. (ie: mesquite chicken breasts prepared on the grill, and then as leftovers as a salad topping another night, or a pasta dish one night that can be garnished as a cold salad for a side dish, on another ..)
But like it or not, plenty of nights I opt for Chinese, or Subs, KFC...or..Wendy's.
The saddest part is always..eating alone. Take out , or not...it's best to have company.
Mary and I enjoy a healthy balance of cooking at home and eating out. Sometimes we cook at home and then take it out and eat (park, hiking trail, or just under the gazebo in the backyard). Sometimes we get take out and eat it at home. We're both good cooks and we both pick great restaurants.
Namaste, Wayne
I can cook almost anything,
but I prefer to let someone
else do all the veggie shopping
and chopping!
No problem there! I don't do fast foods, way to
much fat!!! I like Pizza Hut as they have lots of
great choices, such as the salad bar, pastas and
of course the veggy pizza!!!!! I do frequent local
Diners where everything is home-style cooking!!
