The weather here gets very hot in the summer. It's already over 100 degrees here. Some summers can get up to 115 or so.
We always buy my son sandals in the summer time, but last summer, he got athlete's foot because the sandals made his feet sweat.
This summer, he has new sandals, and they're already making his feet stinky. So, for now he's wearing tennis shoes because we don't want him to get athlete's foot again this summer. He's only 2 1/2 years old.
My question is, do you know of any sandals we can buy for him that will let his feet breathe so this doesn't happen?

Allow your shoes to air for at least 24 hours before you wear them again.
Use talcum or antifungal powder on your feet
Wear leather shoes or sandals that allow your feet to breathe (are his sandles leather?) I know plastic makes my feet sweat.
Never wear the same socks twice
Here's some good info on this site-

The sandals we buy him are from Target. I think they're like a rubbery, leather like material. We're not going to buy them again.
Powder the feet is a good idea also...rotate sandles...have 2 pr...spay the sandles with an antifungal every few days (at night) will help also.
no, he picked up the fungus by going barefoot,or some other way that his feet made contact and it worsened by the moisture caused by the sandals...unless his sandals were worn by another who had the fungus, the sandals did not cause the fungus....(walking in pool areas and even showers/bath tubs are common places to pick up the fungus....sharing towels, too)
wear cotton socks (not synthetic...some are even pre-treated)....keep feet dry dry dry....when inside your house, let him go barefoot to air his feet if carpet/floors are free from the fungus.....comfortable fitting sandals that do not chafe/squeeze to prevent moisture build-up between the toes.....it has been years, but i recall dealing with this with my own son......

I deal with athlete's foot every summer, regardless of what I wear. I always thought maybe it runs in the family somehow, since my father has it and I have also dealt with it on my daughter (at least the stinky shoe deal. Ugh! it smells pretty bad. I keep Gold Bond medicated powder to put in her tennies after she wears them, but we both enjoy going barefoot alot.
Also, when my feet get bad, I soak them in Epsom salt water (warm) and occasionally add bleach to it. This might help, if you can get him to sit still and not mess with the water. =-)
I think there is a place in the mall, in the baby section for shoes.
My suggestion, sprinkle some alcohol to his feet and tender care powder with athlete's foot protection...(costly/very comforting), before putting his shoes if both of you are going somewhere for stroll in town or in your home...
I used to soak my feet in tea when I lived in FL. It really does help with the smell. (My mom wouldn't buy me more than one pair of tennis shoes, so they stunk from wearing them every single day.)
Make sure he doesn't wear the same shoes every day, and use cornstarch. It absorbs better than baby powder.
