The teacher of this second grader told me this story at lunch in the teacher's lounge.
She had a seven year old who struggled to write. She would grasp her fat pencil so tightly and wanted to make her best letters. She had to write a sentence copied from the board.
During the assignment, the little girl raised her hand. The teacher went to her and asked, "What's the matter?"
The little girl remarked, "I have a dead fly on my paper."
The teacher said, "Don't worry he's dead, and won't bother you."
The teacher told me she felt bad for the child, but if she gave her a new paper to write, she wouldn't get the assignment done.
Latter, the teacher collected the papers, and saw a hole in the little girl's paper.
"Where's the fly?" The teacher asked.
"I erased it! She said proudly.
