When Parents Divorce
I am a wilted flower, on this hot August day,
My heart is filled with a sadness,
That I never imagined would be mine.
Once a family so secure in love,
Only now to realize,
That the bond on which this family was built,
Has been shattered forever.
She tried to forgive,
for us.
But her heart was broken, trust was lost,
And one cannot forgive solely for her children.
Her anger is so palpable sometimes,
That it shocks me into reality.
Into this new reality,
Where my parents can no longer be together.
That is such a foreign concept to me,
That I can hardly wrap my mind around it.
I am not sure how to feel, as an adult child,
Who's parents are separating.
