Bluebonnets Of Texas...........part (13)

Grandfather Cougar had retired for the night as he layed there on his soft bed he had made of Balsam bows and many soft pelts from the deer, buffalo that he had taken down. He drifted off to sleep listening to the crickets rubbing their legs together as they were trying to attract a mate. He had a vision come to him about the fields being coverd with those beautiful bluebonnets and knew that soon those Great Buffalo would be on their way back to roam these fields once more.

When Grandfather Cougar awoke that morning he felt like a young strapping buck again went outside to walk up to the Sacred Grounds to pray to the Great Creator that He would bring the Great Buffalo back to them soon. When he was walking up to those Sacred Grounds the others noticed how strong he was they were so happy to see this and got their drums out and started playing while the women danced to that heartfelt beat they were singing a song about the Great Buffalo!! Grandfather heard the drums with the women singing he stood up looking towards the heavens and saw herds of the Great Buffalo hurrying to get to where he was standing. It was so real he started chanting that way only he knew how. "Eeya Iyo Iyo Dah Hout!! Eeya Nagga Heya Aho!!

When Grandfather returned ot the reservation he was full of the Spirit his face was glowing like a young buck's. They all saw such a great change in his stature standing tall and proud!! Openhand approached him along with Tall Trees. "Grandfather Cougar, do you have great news to tell all of us about the Great Buffalo?" Then he turned to them raised his arms toward the heavens started that chanting again all of his people stood still to watch this leader give praise to their Great Creator. Then he began to speak about the vision he saw when he was on the Sacred Grounds. "I looked up in the sky and saw herds of the Great Buffalo coming toward me. It was as real to me that they were pounding Mother Earth, I felt the earth tremble from their hoof beats.

Meanwhile Little Feather with her friend Spirit Crow went up through the path where they saw those bluebonnets growing tall as coud be in splendid color. The aroma wafted through the gentle breeze blowing and bluebonnets were dancing all around far as the eye could see. They were so happy them embraced each other, that brought feelings too both of them never felt before!! Standing in the midst of those beautiful flowers made Little Feather look so different to Spirit Crow's eyes. She was now a young woman his blood was raging through his intire body!! This was dangerous to be alone with her at a time such as this. He spoke to her "We must go back to join the others Little Feather, as the sun is sinking now." He took her hand while they walked back down the path that lead to the reservation. Feelings he did not want to ever stop knowing he would one day make Little Feather his woman!!
