They packed up their toys and went home. Instead of rolling up their sleeves to work on a bill to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change, Republicans decided to boycott a major meeting of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which is readying the bill for discussion on the Senate floor.
Their reason? The costs have not been fully examined. The purpose of the meeting? Among other things, to examine the costs.
A representative from the EPA had been called in to further explain its already published, full-blown economic analysis.
Do you think this kind of behavior is productive?
Could it be that every single Republican committee member is a denialist?

The Senate used to be collegial. Now the institution is turning into a partisan hurricane rivaling even that of the House
There is no incentive the Democrats could offer that would cause the Party of NO to work with them. They only care about delaying, denying, and defeating anything and everything the Dems propose -- whether or not it would benefit them or their constituents.
Team of Scientists’ Open Letter To U.S. Senators: ‘Claim of consensus is fake’
Republicans understand that the whole global warming/climate change thing is a hoax.
All on the same show!! Liberals beware! Lord Monckton And ambassador Bolton on the Glenn Beck show!
I challenge you to watch all 5 short videos and see what you think. Lord Monckton isn't even from this country yet has taken it upon himself to explain the whole charade.
Here in the U.S. anyone who wants to discredit the truth just calls it a "conspiracy" and the messenger a "kook". Some things are true whether you believe them or not.
moe-larry-curly , and shemp, are surely going to sue the democrats for stealing their act.
Not only is the whole thing a farce they don't want the costs to be known.
But GOPs will use any hare-brained excuse not to cooperate.
ARE YOU SUCH A DENIER THAT YOU WOULD ACCUSE ME OF LYING?.
WELL, HOW ABOUT THIS, TWO HOUSES DOWN FORM ME THEY JUST GOT 78 INCHES OF SNOW. Believe me, Linda, you horrid denier, people like you are the people the great Warm Al Gore, has lied-oops, warned about for 30 years now- The end is near , Linda.
Have to go now, i promised to help my neighbor shovel the 78 inches.
NO changes in the status quo.

NO independent thought allowed from the rank-and file.

NO
Does it seem possible to you that there are a variety of people on both sides of most issues including politics? Is it possible that there are people of good conscience and good understanding who are liberals? Is it possible that both sides are right about most things and wrong about only a few?
If you say "No" to each of these questions, think how that will look after Jeannie's comment. :-)
"The climate is always changing and it is called seasons." That's weather. Climate is weather patterns over a period of time ranging from decades to millennia.
Try finding out what you're disagreeing with before disagreeing. I know that's not the GOP paradigm, but you might actually learn something.
Very droll, Marilyn, but totally inaccurate. Your 2008 candidate for President, John McCain, has for a long time considered climate change a serious problem for the future of the human race. You Governor of America's most populous state, Arnold Schwarzenegger, considers it a deadly threat, and he has attempted to take on the role of leadership in combatting climate change that the federal government has long ducked.
Of course you would be right about GW Bush, but let's not generalize. As ususal, you told a half truth. You said "Republicans." You needed to say "some Republicans."
If you want to know the truth about the Republican party, here it is. Many are climate denialists. Many are believers, but are unwilling to spend a dime on it. Some, including almost all moderate Republicans still in the Party, consider it a serious and real problem, and therefore something that will not just "go away" without a dime being spent on it.
much drilling ,deep oil and gas well drilling utilizing billions of gallons of potable water has been performed in Arizona,New Mexico,Colorado with disastrous results to the aquifers( drinking water) , watersheds and soiled poisoned from the byproducts dumped ,and individuals safety threatened with gas leaking into homes via water sources.
The Repubs in the pocket of big oil/gas..so are some of the Dems..
Those measures that mitigate pollution ,any kind air, soil water , at the source are expensive for companies,so they claim...better to take a chance with the public's overall health..what's a lil asthma, lymphocytic leukemia or malignant melanoma afterall?
It's all about the dollars..
Climate Change
Fact: The poles, North and South have decreased in size alarmingly so since 1979 yet faster since 2000.
Fact: A new ocean is forming in Africa (East side)
Fact: Iceland is loosing its permafrost as is Alaska, and parts of Russia
Fact: Methane is escaping where permafrost is being lost.
Fact: CO2 emissions have and are continuing to increase above the numbers that the 2007 readings were reporting projections for the same measure of time.
Fact: CO2 emissions from man have been a concern in nearly every European country long before anyone in the U.S. saw the issue and read the data...we are last and that is not good.
Try it again
Those who give up freedom for security end up with less of both!
Go ahead, vote for it! We will vote you out next election!
