We are a dead religion
At least, that's what people say
That no one could still remember
And practice the ancient ways
That we are led by deception
That we follow the father of lies
That somehow the old ones are gone now
They abandoned us, or have died
Yet who has adopted our methods
Same rituals, different gods
Or perhaps the same, with different names
New roads over pathways well trod
How different are we really
That our peoples must segregate
Living parallel lives unknowing
We travel toward the same gate
And when on the other side
Each comes to the other one's view
Will we damn ourselves into darkness
With I cannot be here with you
Or will we with new eyes acquired
Divinely inspired insight
Forget all our misguided bygones
And live on with love in the light

“As for me, and my family, we follow the lord”
There's no clearer message the Bible can give
"Thou shall not suffer a witch to live"
The Path to Hell's paved with good intentions
The Poem's great but the conclusion's flawed
Between your way and mine insoluble tensions
Follow Father of Lies, or follow the Lord.
It's not the same path, not the same gate
political correctness and tolerance aside
My duty to warn of your ultimate fate
The path to Hell is smooth and wide
The one to Heaven can seem rather narrow
Do I sound intolerant to you?
Sometimes the truth flies straight like an Arrow
wrapping in candy is too hard to do.
If you think "we're no different really"
then why do you follow the path that you do?
It's not too late to stop playing Pagan
The one true path is still open to you.
Sometimes the poem, no matter how good
can fail to convince like you hoped that it would
there's in and out and black and white
You can't convince me darkness is light
So while I respect your skill with verse you see
We'll have to continue to disagree
The Son of Man spoke clear as can be
No path to the Father, except by me
Sometimes the best way to share one beliefs is through examples. We often make statements that inspires others to run from the words we wish to share. A person must believe that you are seeing them and that you act out of true concern for them. Otherwise we open the door to being labeled uncaring and self righteous, thus end up doing more harm then good. Since the harm in this matter is salvation it then become a serious failure and one that may have repercussion for many and for years to come.
Just a thought, (Doesn't Make me right)

The clearest message in the Bible is this:
"‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
I apologise to anyone who found my poem offensive, it wasn't meant to be, and I know my motives were good.
Doesn't mean I communicated them well though.
I like the way that you wrote this, especially the way you ended it. It's surely something to think about, isn't it?
Featured in Gather Writing Essentials, Monday,
with thanks,

The poem was inspired by a lot of drama I witnessed between the two faiths.
Thanks for inviting me to Gather Writing essentials, and for featuring me. :) I'm really enjoying being a member of group!

thank you....so kool of a poem..thank you !

These two passages are Saying in a nutshell...and in particular this one line..." I cannot be here with you " is trying to make the reader aware that we are all responsible for choosing our own path of belief...Do we believe in one god, two ,three..or none...and where is it that we go after we are not in our human bodies, heaven, hell, are we reborn, reincarnated, are we ghosts or whisps of energy?????
Who knows..it is your choice to believe your path, and yours alone..you should not be deciding another persons path at all......Hannah is asking us to see beyond all of our religous beliefs and choose just love and humanity in the deciding factor when we get to the end of our destination.
There are preachers, zeolots, cults, priets, suicide bombers, and etc..who will all try and convert others to their faith, and this is why it is so sad.....Lets Agree to Disagree...sighssssssss........luv thy neighbor should be changed to
Tolerate and Respect thy neighbor....were all humans, and thus part of humanity in this big big universe...............and it is so big, that in my opinion no one should have a small..... mind!,,,,,,,,But You are entitled too if you would like!!
Great as Usual Hannah!!
