I decided, what the heck...why not? Since it's two things I do every day, I might as well give it a whirl...coffee and a book. This morning, when I brought my coffee to the computer to start off a new day, I reached for my camera at the same time I grabbed my 'book'. I turned my experience into the ' Snap and Sip Test'.
When we think of a book; we think of reading. When I think of reading; I think of testing my blood sugar level. There I sat; sipping my coffee with camera ready to snap a picture. I used my lancet to prick my finger; drawing blood to test my glucose level. My book, 'Diary for Self-Monitoring', was at hand to enter the number of my morning reading. Some wouldn't think of this as a traditional book; which it's not. It's something, though, I enter a reading into three times a day, as I record the progress of keeping my blood sugar level down and under control so I don't have to inject insulin. If my level is under a certain mark, I don't need to give myself a shot. No injection was needed this morning, but I took a lot of 'shots'; pictures to enter into Gather's 'Coffee-And-A-Book Photo Contest'. The two runners up will each received 500 Gather points. The top place entry will earn the person who submitted the picture three COFFEE-Mate coupons, a $25 Borders gift card and a $25 gift card to either Dunkin' Donuts or Stabucks.
I snapped around 100 photos while I sipped my coffee after testing my glucose level; entering my reading into my book. I narrowed it down to my four favorite shots. From there, this is the one I chose to enter into Gather's contest. What do you think? Do I stand a chance?

Cool pic!
And good photo
As long as you pass that hurdle,
your pic about coffee and pricking
has as good a chance as any!!!
Where do you find out about all of these contests?
I keep missing them.
That's one book I hope not to have to read someday, though; however, with my family history, I probably will.
Good luck with the comp.
Oh yeah...and GOOD LUCK !!LOL
Elsie! I though the same thing at first glance and I refuse to plead Old!
Rob, you should get a prize just for thinking "outside the box" with your entry! This was a good, creative idea for a routine phenomenon...
I am also loving the gingham table cloth. I have gingham heart coasters.
cheers,gayle
Good luck with your entry.
Well done...something different. Have a good night.
You picked a good photo, too.
Good luck.
