Here's the link to the original article with the photo of recently found of Helen Keller, her teacher, Anne Sullivan, and Helen's doll.  The image is clear and beautiful.  She was a beautiful person, and this photo shows what a beautiful child she was.  She is eight years old in the photo.  It's worth the time to click on the link and enjoy this piece of history for yourself.

ok I went using Nancy's link ....very very interesting ...the thing is most photos from that time were not casual glimpes into lives like we have now ....most portraits from that time were posed and the people in them actually look quite grim in them !!!! real cool slice of every day.... amazing

Carol: Thank you for this story. I will always remember watching Helen and Annie when the movie first came out. I remember walking around with my eyes closed for days afterwards, bumping into walls and wondering how it would feel to be Helen.

The Movie "The Miracle Worker" came out in 1962...I would have been six at the time. Lord. Wow. Thanks for this flashback.
