I am just under five foot tall. The world was not made for me. The average woman in America is 5'4" tall. The average weight is 154 lbs. That's where I'm closer to average in weight.
- I use the children's water fountain.
- I talk to the glass at the deli instead of over it. My asking for a half pound of roast beef turns into a shouting match on my tippy toes.
- My tippy toes are worn out.
- I cannot use the sneeze shield at the salad bar. I'm under it.
- At the movie theater I talk through the money slot instead of the talking hole.
- I have to hem petite pants.
- When I sit in the doctor's office, my feet dangle off the chair, so I don't sit back, so I look like a big girl.
- As a teacher, I taught high school. I had to make sure a student was sitting before I got in his or her face.
- A pound gained on me has no where to hide.
- I have to ask for help to get something off the shelf in the grocery store, or use one box to get another and then duck when the boxes come down. I've gotten pretty good at this.
Help!

But we all have our hardships. I am left-handed. Don't get me started on the disadvantages there.
My 20 yo is 5'9; my 18 yo is 5'3; my 16 yo is 5'....diminishing return!
I worry about the youngest one...all three are done growing. My best friend who is only 5' was short in our "day." Maybe I should teach her to alter clothing!
I'm fairly tall, and that's got bad sides too. I think I'm about 5' 7 but hubby thinks I'm closer to 5' 10.
my hubby is 6'5" so i never have to reach for anything! :)
Carol----your article made me laugh. If it helps any I am shrinking. Several years back I am almost positive I was 5'5 and now I am 5'4 so if I keep on going at this rate, I will catch up to you in no time!!
I am happy where I am height wise.
i'm sure it must get frustrating... Blessings to you always...
