I have no idea. I avoid the black friday sales, so can't judge it by me. I only know one person crazy enough to actually go out there for 4am.

I don't talk to enough people to judge, but I am think that it will be pretty good and then taper off once the craze of the holidays wears on.

I don't have any money to go tomorrow, but I wouldn't go if I could, I don't do crowds.

I forgot to add....Costco was really busy on Monday and it wasn't just the food areas...
That was too much of a crowd for me already!

As for Christmas shopping, I've got it all taken care of; on line from various stores in the USA and Canada, and in person at The Second Cup here in Guelph!!

Hi Lora! I don't mean to be a pessimist, but I think this Christmas season will end with the "official" announcement that we are in a recession. Almost everyone I know is forced to cut back this year.

I think they will be up, but as a black Friday shopper...I wish everyone else would stay home so I could get my deals and get out of there LOL

I don't think the economy overall is doing that bad....just the housing market right now. Lots of economists actually think the housing market will be going back up after the first of the year as well, so I think everyone just freaked out in August. From what I understand, most of the people who lost their homes shouldn't have been given a home loan anyways based on their credit....I mean banks don't WANT to foreclose on houses....they are just forced to when irresponsible people sign up for loans they do not understand or cannot pay.

I think it depends on how much money you can afford to spend. If you tight like my family, we are going to be cutting back. But if you have money to spend, then you are going to look for the deals. I think that sales will be down even for Target and Walmart.

I hope for the stores who need the Christmas money to be in the black. I mourn for people who go into deep debt. I also mourn for people who think to get the Christmas spirit you have to buy. I am an Internet shopper and am going on line today!

I think will soar. But not to what the retailers want. With the economy hurting, that always means sales will be down. Espically if people have been frugal and have been shopping all year for Christmas. many more people have started to do this knowing how much they save through the year.
