I think you are asking for trouble. IF he equates your house with food you make it more likely you are the one the pitbull ends up mauling.

I would be carful around him, maybe you could live trap him in a cage when he went in to get any food you put out. Maybe there is some one in your area that will lend you a trap.

Or he could only be considered vicious because he IS a pitbull, not because he's vicious. Sadly, he'll be put down anyhow, unless you happen to know a pitbull rescue organization nearby. Not all pitbulls are vicious, and any stray dog is one to be wary of.

I would feed him, but you would also have to be careful of the law on that, they might decide he is yours because of that, and hold you resposible harboring a vicious dog.

I would quietly leave food. I hate it that pitbulls are public enemy #1 because of the idiots that breed and raise them as well as train them to fight. Poor animals.

What has he suppossedly done that makes him "Viscious"? I mean is it because he's a pit or do they suspect he's rabid or something? Pits do get a bad rap, so for me it would depend on what his alleged misdoings are and the circumstances surrounding them.

I have the same questions as Krissy...how do you know he is vicious...the fact that he ran in the bushes when he saw you might lead to believe otherwise. Unless you have it from a credible source. I think maybe you should feed him. Take all the precautions...which I am sure you are. But his misdeeds may be because he is hungry.

The poor dog is probably scared to death with everyone chasing him around the neighborhood! Is everyone scared just because he's a pit? ANY dog can be viscious if they are provoked!

If you leave food for him, you wil your scent on the food. He may follow your trail to your house in search of more foor. Keep that in mind. The best advice you have received in these comments is to contact the closest Pit Bull Rescue organization. BTW, are you sure it's a pit bull? It could be a Staffordshire Terrier, or some other breed that people generally call pit bulls but that are not.

I wouldn't leave the food near your house. We have had some pitbulls attacking people in South Florida not too long ago. In a Target parking lot no less. Just stay safe.
