The new Snap Happy photo theme is Painted Art. This is another idea I've had for awhile, and with my recent art festival jaunts, I decided now is a good time to hold it.

Basically any photo where the artwork is hand-painted will qualify. So wall murals, graffiti, various objects, as well as traditional canvas paintings qualify. If you're an artist, feel free to post photos of some of your own work. Macro shots will look the most vivid and are preferred for this theme.

I've included a selection of my personally taken photos that date back to 2004 to give you some ideas of the types of images I'm looking for. Again, the artwork itself does not have to be your own, but the photo does!

This theme will run through 5:00 pm EDT on Friday, May 8th. Please include the following tags on your photo submissions to the group... "snap happy" "painting" and "painted art."

If you're not a group member and would like to participate, join here: http://snaphappy.gather.com/ Please read the group synopsis and guidelines before submitting images. In short, no digitally altered photos will be accepted for judging. This group is for raw photography, not graphic design.

I hate to keep repeating this, but please try to be selective and creative with your submissions. In other words DON'T post multiple photos of the same exact painting or piece of painted art . With wall and building murals, try to post different closeup sections of the piece. And only pick your BEST SHOTS to post to the group.

Also, please refrain from photo essays, articles and videos since they will not show up in the group gallery and thus will not be eligible for judging. I will accept them if they fit the theme, but just know ahead of time that they won't be included.

This should be a fun and cool theme to view images from. If you don't have photos that fit this theme, then get out there and take them!

Happy Snappin!
