For Ina's eyes only: Please scroll across the bar, below...
Warning: There are lots of bird photos here!
Helen, an older English friend recently had triple bypass surgery and was sent to recuperate at a Nursing Home / Rehabilitation Center. We went to visit her not too long ago.
Like most nursing homes in our area, the place where she is now in residence had a wall-sized aviary donated by big-hearted patrons. Professional aviarists maintain the unit, making sure the birds are healthy and well-fed.
Here are some of the beautiful birds in the showcase. Maybe some of you can identify them for me?

Now, I'll go back and read. I promise I'll try to really look at the pictures!
They're actually beautiful! If I end up in a home that has an aviary, it will finish me off fast.
And this: ♥
I can a bunch of others, too, but my cheat sheet isn't open. Those are the only two I've memorized.
There IS glass all around the birds, Ina... they can't get to you!
The patients in that Nursing Home actually find the birds a soothing diversion... that is why it is now so much a part of nursing homes around here.
They are also very healthy and happy looking birds. This would be a spirit lifter for anyone (except Ina and Lainie).
(Now tell us how you did the scroll bar thing!) I can only do this.....

Aunt Boni,
For adding spoiler text or hidden messages to an article, click on your HTML editor in the Publishing Toolbar and just use the HTML code ---
< p style="color: red; background-color: red;">secret text here
Where it says RED, you can change them to any color you wish,...like silver, blue, black etc. Just be sure they match, that they are the same color for both areas.

I always thought is was cool that my daughter's first daycare had cats. I think animals are good for people.
The Nursing Home also had regular visits from nice dog owners who let the residents touch their pets. There is a cat in residence there, too... she visits each room, just like the nurses do on regular rounds!
I don't know how to do anything except make links. Love that scroll bar for Ina!

Beryl, we should both feel lucky... living in the countryside, there are birds around me all the time and all season.

Wilma, I sincerely believe that the residents in all the nursing homes in my county are happier because of the aviaries that are in their visiting areas. They do lift their spirits enormously. Some of the residents watch the birds rather than stay in their rooms watching TV!
I hang around Kevin V's Homepage
a lot... that's where I pick up a lot of tips and tricks on how to make my Gather experience more fun! If you hover over the link, you will see a mouse-over-message... that's another trick I learned from him!
I love the photos and admire how well you incorporated 'spoiler text' into your article!
That's a fun technique and makes your content very 'interactive'!
As for identifying the birds, they would need to be a little bigger for me to be of any help.
Have a great afternoon!
Beautiful photos!
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
and thanks for adding to my points! :-)
