Last night I gave my dog Pepper, our Blue Heeler, a shower. She was smelly because she knew she needed a bath, but she thought going in the lake would do just fine.
The water that she bathed in was smelly, shallow water near the shoreline, and left her worse off than before. Very much worse.
Normally I would take her outside & hose her off with the garden hose, but it was dark out....and the spiders might get me.
So into the shower she went. I had to help her in, because she was resistant to the idea. Although once the warm water was cascading on her, she seemed to enjoy it. I scrubbed her, with just water, and I was amazed at the color of my water as it came off of Pepper. It was Black. I mean, truly black. It was gross & I was so glad that I decided to give her the shower - I guess she needed the shower more than I had thought!
Then this morning, Lucky, our mixed-breed dog, decided to roll in something, cause all of a sudden she had a bad order. She doesn't like to get wet, so she wasn't anywhere near the lake, but I think she found something in the yard that she liked the smell of - and decided she wanted to wear it~
So into the shower she went. My husband had to put her in for me, because she is pretty heavy & she didn't want to go it at all. She didn't exactly enjoy her shower, but I think she was glad that at least the water was nice & warm. Dryed her off with a towel & set her free....
She was feeling frisky after that shower & wanted to wrestle with Pepper. Now everyone smells nice & pretty, and hopefully they will stay that way for a long time!

Thanks for the neat photos of them all clean and fresh.
I have one dog (Dulce) that LOVES his bath. The girls (Rhieon and Mia) I have to make get in the bath.
