Our neighborhood supermarket has a floral department. There are frequently a wide variety of cut flower bouquets available, as well as arrangements and potted plants. From time to time, I indulge in a bouquet of roses -- when they are on sale, of course.

I tend to favor mixed bunches, rather than one color. My most recent purchase included a great selection of colors and inspired me to dig out my camera and play.

A red rose for love.
This intense red bloom took my breath away.

Pink roses for gentleness and grace.
I had fun playing with shadows on this one.

From this angle, it reminds me of a crepe paper flower!

A pale peach rose denotes modesty.
This demure darling captured my heart with a pastel dignity I couldn't overlook!

Dark pink for gratitude and appreciation.
I got tickled by the way the little yellow rose tried to steal the scene from this full hot-pink one and didn't have the heart to crop it out!

I love this "berries and cream" look - reminds me of the Herbert Hoover rose bush my dad had in the backyard when I was growing up.

A yellow rose for friendship and joy.
A miniature sun beaming among the blossoms!

White roses for purity and innocence.
A study in light and shadow

Rosy at heart - a deep pink rose edged almost to red!

Another white rose - this one was a little slower to open than the other.

Coral roses show enthusiasm.
Certainly this was an enthusiastic bloom!

A beautifully variegated rose to tempt a deep sniff!
I had a great time playing with the roses in this bunch. As always, they've lasted a wonderfully long time. The price I paid has been more than surpassed by the joy my mother and I have gotten from the flowers.
