Last week, the neighbors told me they found a beach nearby and it looked nice. It's a county park, hidden out in the country. It's $2 to get in, or $15 for a yearly pass. Now, being that summer is almost over, I don't care to invest in a family pass. Next year, I will. It's a 7 or 8 minute drive away is all.
On Friday, I was planning to take the kids to the community pool after we picked Alex up. Well, the pool is $3/person, or $10/family. It adds up. However, it wound up being so nice out, that I decided to try my hand at that beach instead.
I looked up directions, verified costs, and packed the van up with snacks, life jackets, towels, chairs, and more. We headed out to the beach, and found it easily. It is small, but it wasn't crowded, and the beach and lake bottom were nice and sandy. I hate rocky bottoms, they hurt my feet!
The kids enjoyed it, but it was more of a chore for me- I was alone with 4 kids, one of which was only 2! Not my ideal beach day.
On Wed, the park is free, so I decided last week that if it was nice today, we'd head off to the beach when Gilly gets home at noon. I had most the stuff still in the van from last time, and added a couple of things this morning. I had Nick dig the cooler out of the basement, too. I picked up juice boxes last night, and lunch makings for a picnic lunch.
I mentioned it to the neighbors last night, and they had been planning to do the same! So, I won't be alone, and between us, there will either be 5 or 6 kids, with 3 adults. I'm not sure if the one girl behind us will be tagging along or not, since her older sister just came home for the first time in a month (she goes back and forth between her mom & dad, but she's been with her dad much longer because she competes with dirt bikes, and had a full schedule in that area of the state).
Actually, come to think of it, both girls could probably come. So, we might even have 7 kids. The older girl is the same age as Raegan & little T.
I'm excited! Beach day!

We've had some warm days, but heck, I've gotten a LOT of use out of my sweatshirts I bought up in Mackinac!
Great pictures. I especially love that very last one with all three of them.
