Today was promised to be the hottest of the summer at around 90, with mild humidity. I've been wanting to take the kids to the beach, but the van hasn't been fixed completely yet, so I'm scared I'll get stranded somewhere. The escort will make longer drives, but it's got some issues, as well.

Until the van is fixed, the beach was out of the question, despite the heat. Nick, however, decided to take some PTO today, so we could take the kids to a near by beach for the day. We packed all of our snacks and water bottles, then stopped at the grocery store to grab some bread, lunch meat, cut up fruit, and some pretzels to eat as well.

It was indeed hot, and the park was packed. We all got too much sun. I think we all got burned in various areas, despite liberal use of sunscreen. It was very warm while we were there. The park has a beach, plus a splash park area. We started at the beach, then when we got hungry, we went over to the splash park to eat and play. We wound up back at the beach, though, before too long.

It was a fun day, but very hot. I think we were there probably about 3 hours, all in all, though.

I had to include this- I saw a woman walking with it, and got flashed right back to being a child. I had the exact same suitcase as a child. My brother had it's 'mate'- a blue one with a little boy that said "I'm Going To Grandpa's" on it. I'm sure they must have been a gift from my Grandma Hazel at some point. I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw that suitcase today!

i had a suitcase that said "i love gramas" on it, yes, spelled just like that. made me bomb a spelling test later in life
Great summer fun! I'm sure it was great cooling down. Now it's time for the aloe vera gel~
We've been slathering it on, and even gave Gilly some motrin. She didn't get burned much, but boy does she complain with the best of them! ;)
boy that looks like fun, oh and every kid should have a little suitcase like that Grandmas are the BEST !
my dd still has her pink Going to Grandma's littel suit case. she packs her
stuff animals in it.
love the photos =)
Those are awsome pictures, and it sounds like you had a really awsome time.
And the suitcase made me flash back to my childhood too. I didn't have the suitcase, but I had a backpack with the same design on it. It was my school bag when I was in the lower grades of elementary school. I loved it! I had totally forgotten about it until I saw your picture.
That looks like so much fun! I'm jealous! We don't really have anything like that around here. Well, we do have one place that has a wave pool and a few slides--I don't really like wave pools, and I can't slide this summer, so there's not much point in us going when Elliott can play in his clean pool at home for free. :o)
I think we've had a couple of days above 90 already...but I'm so tired of customers finding out I'm due at the end of August and saying "Ohh...you still have the hot months to go!" Really? As if I didn't know summers are hot, LOL!
It was nice you were able to go to the beach. I saw the kids had a nice time too.
Oh those pictues looks wonderful. It is hot..... want to go swimming.
I would've loved to be at a beach yesterday! My small kiddie pool did the trick though! lol
What a fun looking beach!
Great photos. Sounds like it was a great day for your family to go swimming.
