Well, we have the car almost completely packed. I was able to fit into the trunk:
4 folding chairs
2 lanterns
1 heater
2 life jackets
1 side table
1 4 ft long t able
1 air mattress
1 air pump
3 back packs- 2 are kids clothing, 1 is extra stuff- kitchen things, outdoor things, lights water bottles, etc
1 tent
1 canopy
1 small duffel of kids clothing
2 jackets (me, Rae)
1 sandwich maker
1 griddle
1 rubber mallet
1 roll of duct tape
1 long orange extension cord
Roasting sticks for the fire pit (2 long ones, 3 short ones)
Hmm... I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff I packed up already.
I put 1 sleeping bag in the backseat at Gilly's feet. My outdoor rugs are at Chris's feet. The cooler is situated between Gilly & Chris in the back. My car charger for my phone, and for my batteries, and for the DS are in the car. The backup pack for charging batteries from an outlet is in my duffel bag. My spare batteries are in my camera case, not packed into the car yet. The snacks I am bringing from home are in the cooler for the trip.
I still have to pack 3 more sleeping bags, and pillows, plus my duffel of clothing, and towels. Oh, and bug spray. I didn't see it, and didn't pack it yet. Also, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc.
We have to go return bottles to the store tomorrow evening- I'll have to use the Prizm for that, since I loaded down the car already.
The kids have $20 from Nick and I for spending money each. Once I cash in my change jar, they'll have about $12 each more, putting them at $32. My aunt gave the kids each $10 (or, $5 to Chris, but his Grandma gave him alone $5, so it evens out to $10 each) as well. The cans will likely only bring in about $3-4 each. All in all, they will likely wind up around $45 each to spend.
That's a LOT, if you ask me, and I'm hoping they'll wind up bringing some of it home with them.
We intend to send postcards twice, once from Mackinac Island, and once from either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City, to the following people:
Home (Nick/Dad)
Grandma & Grandpa T (my parents)
Aunt Marci
Grandpa Munn
I forgot a spatula earlier, so Nick put it in my duffel bag. I am bringing the laptop if I can squeeze it into the car. I'm also going to get 2 new kids Netflix movies on Tuesday, which will go with us, and I'll pack 2-3 other movies for "quiet time" watching before bed.
I am also considering a board game, but I'll wait and see if we have space. I have a deck of cards, glow necklaces for at night, a jump rope, frisbees, and a wiffle ball catching game which take up almost no space, so those are all packed. Well, except the wiffle ball catcher.
I did find out that the campsite charges a small fee to use the internet, so no idea yet if I'll do it. It might not be worth the hassle, but we'll wait and see. Either way, you can be assured that when I come home, it'll be to a LOT of stuff to post!
I have to remember to pack:
Chris's meds
My meds
2 more books for me
An Umbrella
Dish tub
Dish soap
Paper plates
Syrup & Pancake batter
Scissors
Homework for the kids
Kid Kits
Socks
Hmmm.... lord, please don't let me forget anything important!
