This school year has been challenging for Chris, and in return, us as parents. I was at the school today, and realized we've entered the home stretch. Gillian's teacher had a May/June calendar to go home, and it outlined the school events, and class events between now and the end of school.
This week is the meeting at Gilly's new school, which will be attended by the students and teachers who have been re-routed to that school. That's on Thursday.
Next Friday is the school carnival, which I plan to take the kids to. Chris & Gilly get to play unlimited games free, but sibs and parents are $2 each. Chris & Gilly will also get a free meal, so that's nice, too.
The Friday after that, the 22nd, is Gilly's big field trip to Binder Park Zoo. It's the 2nd largest zoo in the state, and apparently quite a nice place to visit. I've never been to it, so I offered to chaperon. It's $12 for the kids, and $7 for the chaperons.
I meant to send our money in last week, and forgot. Bus space for adults was limited to 5 on the bus, so it was "first pay, first assigned to bus". I had told her teacher before permission slips were sent home that I wanted to be on the bus, but realized it wasn't likely an option today.
However, her teacher saved me a spot on the bus, and told me that he had to look after his helper. So, that'll be nice- it's about a 30-40 minute drive to the zoo otherwise. It's not like I would have a horrible time driving, but this way, I can also keep an eye on Gilly.
Then, the following Monday is Memorial Day. I don't recall what is happening on that Friday, but there was something. Then, the next week is the last week of school, ending with 2 half days on Thursday & Friday.
The week after school lets out, the kids and I are heading up to Mackinaw City for a week long camping trip. I'm so excited!
Summer will be tough with the kids, but being able to have a looser schedule will help me somewhat. Hopefully it won't be completely horrible. ;) From mid July to the end of August, Gillian will be going to a summer "camp" sponsored by the school to help her with her reading difficulties. She'll go for 4 hours a day, Tue-Thur.
That's kind of nice that they don't go on Monday or Friday, because if I take them away for the weekend, we can leave Thursday afternoon, and come home on Monday.
When are your kids out of school? Do you have any summer plans?

Thanks for the reminder
We will be headed your way at some point in June...probably while you are at Mackinaw though...LOL
Keep the kids busy this summer, and get them out in that big garden of yours. Get them working on making their own paradise garden:)
Roshane is out on the 4th of June and I cannot wait to have freedom to do whatever we want. We are going on our Key Largo trip right after school is out, and then everything depends on the pregnancy. I am due in mid July.
We are done the first week in June. This year has been, by far, our worst. I hope that we can have a good summer.
It's always great to be on the inside at school- you get to enjoy all of the perks!
I feel the same as you about summer. It will be very hard, but the schedule (lack of) is so much better to work with.
I wish they had school-sponsored camps like that here. It sounds really neat.
We don't really have many summer plans. My sister is coming up the last weekend this month and staying for a week. I think we are going to do a day trip or two while she is here. We might take a few short trips later this summer, but we haven't decided for sure yet. We'll be going to the state fair, and this will be Elliott's first time going. It's only about 35 miles from here, though, so it's not a big trip or anything. That's where we go for any shopping we do off base, so we are there at least a couple of times each month.
