The other day, I took Raegan to Goodwill to shop and let her find some tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts to supplement her summer wardrobe. I took my camera in with me, but sadly, my batteries died like 5 minutes into the trip. I only got a few photos while we were on the "As Is" side. The "As Is" side is basically a giant clearance center.
They get shipments of un bought items in from 12-15 regular Goodwills around the area. Quite often, the clothing is just old, out of style, stained, or ripped. But, I find nice quality clothing quite often, especially out of season stuff.
I just found out the other day that at the end of the week, anything on the walls (housewares, toys, shoes, decorations, ect) is put through the compactor on Monday's. They are closed Sunday & Monday to sort the stock. The clothing is bundled up and sold by the pound over seas.
I think they would do a lot better by making the store available to low income families, families displaced by fire or tragedy, or people living in shelters. Make it open by referral only one day a week, and let the people come in, and take what they need for free.
The person in front of me suggested something similar- that they send the items to shelters around the area instead of selling it over seas.
Anyway, here's the pictures from our trip.

Alex- a lot of ours do the sort by color instead of by size. I hate that, and complain regularly, and almost never buy clothing from those ones. They have finally started sorting adult clothing by size, but kids clothing is just a mis-mash of kids sizes in a specific style- like all the short sleeved shirts, then all the long sleeves, dresses, pants, shorts, etc.
Boy do I hate it when the batteries die! It is always at the worst time, too! My camera goes through batteries like a baby goes through diapers, LOL :|
