The kids got to bed a bit late- it was almost 10 before we got them into their baths & showers! But, Chris & Gilly were silent when they laid down, and fell asleep before Rae was done with her shower. I told her no reading, no lights, straight to bed- and she (for once) followed my advice!
About 15 minutes after she went upstairs, I started assembling the baskets. I did a full on color coordinated theme this year- each kid has exactly the same items in their baskets, the exact same basket, etc- only each kid has a different color. Raegan got orange (it's her new favorite color), Chris got green (his favorite color), and Gilly got pink (which she's starting to out grow in the vivid view of Purple- but I couldn't find most of the stuff in purple).
I was even able to make the grass match the basket, for the most part. I bought a single bag of green to use for all 3- there was no orange, so I wasn't going to try different colors. Last weekend while we were at my Grandpa's, I found a box filled with Easter odds n ends- mostly plastic eggs. There was a bag of pale purple grass, though- almost a pink, but not quite. Then, earlier this week, my FIL sent us a package. In it were 3 boxes from a company promo. The boxes each held a small tin with magnetix toys in them- cushioned by orange and irredescent grass!
How cool! Orange! So, since I had 3 different colors, I used those. The kids baskets all matched- green, pink, orange. Walmart had chocolate bunnies by Russel Stover in orange, pink, and green. I added a package of peeps in orange, pink, and green. 2 pre-filled store bought eggs in orange, pink, and green.
Orange was probably the hardest color to find on some items, but Walmart had a whole section this year just for color coordinated items. They also each got a small stuffed toy holding a bag of colored jelly beans. Rae & Chris each got bunnies with green or orange ears, paws, and bows. They were out of the matching pink bunnies, but had pink teddy bears with fake bunny ears on, also holding the pink jelly beans.
I bought a 12 pack of metallic eggs, so they each got 2 metallic eggs in their basket- one with a dollar bill, one with 4 quarters. They also each got a tooth brush (not matching, unfortunatly- red for each of the girls, and green for Chris). I bought them each a mini kite- purple & orange for Rae, purple for Gilly, and an air plane for Chris. There were also small tubs of colored cotton candy in the right colors.
The main thing I had gotten each of them is a nice stylus for their DS's. They have wrist straps, and are pricey ($10 each!), but 3 packs are $8, and they're half the size, with no way to attach them to your wrist or the DS. They go through them like crazy, too, because they get lost so easy. I'm hoping these will be MUCH less likely to get lost, so I'm hoping it was an expense well worth it.
This is the first time I've done a matching basket for each kid, and I have to say- I LOVE how they turned out, and I LOVE that there won't be any fighting over who got what, because they ALL got the SAME thing!
The kids will hunt for their baskets in the morning. We're making a turkey which takes almost 5 hours (it's BIG), so we'll be up early. After lunch and dishes are done, I have lots of eggs I can toss around the backyard for the kids to find.
We also have the movie Bolt I rented on Netflix that they can watch tomorrow.
Happy Easter everyone! I hope you enjoy your day!

God bless, I know you still mean well!
Heather,
You did a great job on these baskets and I can see all of the love that went into them, and that's just what they'll feel when they see them. Happy Easter, Mrs. Bunny!
Have a perfect day,
Marilyn
Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!
Neat baskets. I'm sure your kids will enjoy themselves thoroughly. Happy Easter!
LOL!
Karen~
hope they had lots of fun
Our walmart had the color coordinated stuff too...but we did have orange here in Louisville. When I noticed them I thought of you and your kids!
The Easter bunny almost forgot our house, LOL! I went to bed without giving it a thought, so when Elliott woke me up in the morning, I had to usher him into his bedroom for a little bit while the Easter bunny made a quick pit stop before we left for church! (He's only two so he doesn't realize it anyway...)
