never did cha cha but i hear its a 50% pay cut

wow! i didn't realize we'd only be getting .10 now! ugh! oh well... a little money is something, i guess.

Starting August 14th, you will be checked for quality on a weekly basis. If you do not have 300 queries and over a 95% quality rating you will only get 10 cents per query. Yes it is only 50% of what you used to get.

Well, when I FIRST worked for ChaCha, over a year ago... I was making GOOD money there, .50 a search... Then they changed the limits on how long the searches were, how much they'd pay, how they did their searches, etc... It became a major hassle and I would sit in front of the computer, "available" for 3 hours, and not ONE search!
From what I hear, their whole process just keeps changing, and they keep paying less, and it's just nto worth it. I got really "jaded" to ChaCha really fast... Especially since I really did my best, had great ratings, and had a lot of time to devote to it at the time. It is depressing!

I am really bummed! I usually make the top guide lists, in fact the only time that I don't is when I go away. Now this means that I will be making half the week that I get back from vacations. It is one thing, not to get paid while on vacation, but it is another to get penalized and get paid less for taking one at all.

I also know that there are a lot of people that just don't have the time to answer 300 plus questions a week. They give great service, but are going to be hurt by this.

They say that it is to reward the guides that are doing well, but why such the drastic cut? why not pay the top guides 5 cents more for a week or lower the pay to 15 cents for those that don't make it? It just seems so extreme!

Also, there is no way in heck that I am going to refer anyone with this kind of set up. They say that they "have invested millions of dollars in tools and training for our Guides." but I sure haven't seen it. It took me months to figure out what I was supposed to do. Seriously, I was accepted as a guide in October and didn't get rolling until February. One day, I just stumbled on the fact that I was supposed to do this and that, there was no training.

Also, their quality control seems so arbitrary. There is no way to know how you are really doing and therefore, no way to improve if you need to.

I agree Gwen, they are going to lose a lot of people, like the stay at home mothers who cannot be on hours a day because they want to be with their children.

Yep, a 50 percent pay cut is pretty bad. I'll stay, but I sure won't make a lot of money.

I have a referral code to put in but I still havn't signed up. I have been too busy too.
I still might sign up and check it out just to see if I think it will be worth it to me.

I gave up on them over a year ago. I was tired of borrowing a PC and never getting enough to be paid and their promise to make it work on a Mac, which when I last checked they still have not done.

I signed up for ChaCha in January 07 and I thought I took all the tests I was supposed to take back then... but I never received questions and ended up not even going ahead with it.

I saw another article here on Gather talking about how great ChaCha was a few months ago, so I signed back in and found out they had suspended my account due to non-activity. I contacted them and they opened my account back up, so I thought I was in the clear.

Just recently one of my good friends here has been doing really well there and since we're trying to purchase our first home, I figured ChaCha would be a great place to earn that much needed extra income. I went in and it said I was still a Guide In Training, so I spent days reading through all their preparation materials and downloading their toolbar, updating the programs on my computer that they wanted and was finally ready to take the simulator test! I sign in as 'available' and no searches ever come to me! It's so frustrating.

I emailed them through their website contact form and 2 days later I got an email in my personal email inbox saying that it was returned to me as 'undeliverable. I have another email in to them now and haven't received any kind of response. I looked on the forums and see there are quite a few people who can't even take the simulator tests for the same reason.

I sure wish I could become a Guide for ChaCha!

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. One one hand, I don't think it will affect me much. You only need those 300 or 350 searches at a 95% accuracy per week (Sun-Sat) to make the 20cents we've always made. This week alone (since Sunday) I've already done 175 searches. So, I can't see it being a problem for me to keep up with the 300 searches per week. On the other hand, Cha Cha does NOT tell you what your accuracy rating is, so you have no way of knowing if you've done good or not, unless you're on the top guides list.

I'm on the pay me now feature and I LOVE it! I made $195 from Cha Cha in July, and I didn't even do very many searches. I took a few days off here and there, had some computer problems, and I still managed to make $195. I do a lot of my searching after 11pm because that's when I have a quiet home so it's easier for me to concentrate. I find that late nights the searches usually come back to back, so I can get a lot of searches in during that time.

I will continue to do searches for Cha Cha. So far, they haven't let me down. I'm confident I'll be able to keep up with the 300 search load, and look forward to the upcoming contests to increase my cash. And, if all the guides do quit like they're threatening to do, that just means more searches for those of us who stay. However, I have a feeling that the guides threatening to leave Cha Cha won't quit, just like the people on gather who always say they're leaving but never do. Time will tell.

I agree with you, Jill. I'm going to stick it out with ChaCha. I find it really easy to meet the 300 search minimum, and when I work late at night there are lots of searches back to back. Hopefully I'll be making top guide and it won't be a problem and I'll just keep making .20 a search.

I was trying to sign up there and the video froze on me. I asked to have it reset but I never heard anything back. I guess I will just read the materials and then try to take the simulator test.
