Caroline Kennedy endorsed Obama today. That is something. I've been watching the momentum pick up around Barrack Obama lately and to be honest, he's been looking better to me lately. His speeches are phenomenal. This is one area he truly has Hillary beat in. Caroline Kennedy said that she'd never met anyone, until Obama, who inspired her the way people say that her father inspired them. Now that is something.
It's interesting that Bill Clinton is now seeking to compare Obama to Jesse Jackson. Wasn't it Jesse Jackson who was summoned to the White House to help Clinton spiritually when he was in the middle of the Monica Lewinsky mess? I'm beginning to think maybe we need a constitutional amendment forbidding ex president's spouses from running for president. Everyone knows it is all about association.
But, back to Obama. Truthfully, I'm probably voting for Ron Paul. I don't' see it going down any other way for me. But, psychologically I can see why Obama is defeating Clinton. His people were chanting that race doesn't matter. His speeches are inspiring. I didn't even agree with much of what he said in one speech and still I found myself moved by his speaking. Compare that to Hillary who seems forced.
Personally, I think Bill Clinton needs to sit down and shut up. He had his day in the sun. The smart watcher would compare Obama to Bill. Obama talks about bettering everyone. Personally, I think Bill is just ticked because once a real black man is elected President, people will stop calling Bill the first black president. I've always found it sick that people would call Bill the first black president anyway. It cheapens it.
I'm 36. The first primary I cared about had Jesse Jackson in it. Much to the dismay of many IO supported Jesse Jackson. I wanted a rainbow coalition and thought the world would be as cool as those United Bennington (?) commercials. It's been a while so I'm not sure exactly how to spell that. Back then, I thought Jesse was great. Later I felt betrayed by him. The same thing happened with Bill Clinton. It makes it hard to trust that there are any great democrats left.
Hillary's swipe at Obama about Reagan was also a joke. Her own husband once credited Reagan with winning the Cold War. The fact is the Reagan cross overs are the very people that she needs to win this election. Sure, there are a lot of fresh voters out there. But, many of the crossovers who voted Reagan also voted Clinton in 92. Now, in 08, Obama wants their vote. And he seems to know how to get it. By being the personable full of hope guy that Bill Clinton was in 92 and ant that Reagan was as well. We don't elect president's on policy, we elect them on personality.
Right now, Obama has the personality.

So I guess I support Hillary! LOL
Mitt Romney, or Guliani.... not McCain and No lord not again not Billary...
Interesting, I'd vote Ron Paul before I'd support Guliani. Besides, I can't elect someone whose name I can't spell :)
To me Republican or not democrat or not even Clinton or not,,, once they win they become my president and I will pray for them protect them and send them my letters making suggestions...
But as I said I fear idiots and perversity's evil...
True, but you have to admit for future Gather articles that if Paul is president his name would be easier to spell :) I know what you mean about fear of an assassination attempt though.
I don't see a republican winning this time out. There just aren't any inspiring republicans in the bunch. I don't think the "G" man is all that great. In fact, if it weren't for 9/11 he would not even be on the radar. He has an incredible amount of baggage. I think he'd make a better Attorney General or something.
The past weeks' comments of Bill have me changing my mind on her.
John McCain is a democrat in GOP clothing. I will be happy with him too (except on the Iraq issue, which no one cares about anymore).
I also feel the Clintons are making a tatical mistake in spending so much time in the black churches because many blacks ( I for one and a whole lot of my relatives and friends) will not generally support a candidate endorsed by black clergymen because they consider these clergy men sell outs. They are not the powerbrokers that people think they are. Hillary got a lot of black clergy support in SC, but Obama got 80% of the black vote because the power of the black clergy has fallen and many African Americans consider them as part of a by gone era and not the future.
Obama understands that you have got to take the message to the shop keepers, business owners, the college students, the postal worker, the cop on the beat and other everyday people in the community and explain to them face to face why they should vote for you. Barack Obama knows this and his campaign manger knows this from running in Chicago. The Clintons need to realize this if they are going to get any significant Africcan American vote. The days of going to the African American clergy and them delivering you the vote on a silver platter is over. That mistake is why Hilary Clinton lost 80% of the African American vote in SC and if she does change tatics, she risk losing 80% of the African American votes in the country no matter how many black clergy men she lines up for endorsements. It's amazing that the Obama team knew and understood this from Chicago and the Clinton team didn't realize it at all.
I do agree with you, as a history teacher, about the Kennedy presidency though.
