Happy Monday, Gather Denzians! Our weekend is -finally- over, and I can safely say yay!
On Saturday, we held a joint birthday party for my two younger children. Gilly turned 6 at the tail end of December, and Chris turns 9 tomorrow. Because of the proximity to Christmas, we try to hold the joint party closer to Chris's birthday, to give us all a breather.
My family all lives about an hour away, and with it being winter, it's generally easier for me and my family to travel over there, than it is to have all the other people come to us. We usually wind up at Chuck E Cheese- they let me bring my own cake, there's plenty for the kids to do, and it only costs the amount of some tokens.
Prior to this year, we've always done mid-afternoon parties, but this year, I checked the website, and decided that 10am might work out nicely. For starters, it gives everyone the rest of the day to do whatever, and my hope was that the chaos zone wouldn't be -as- chaotic that early in the morning.
We were up and around early, and I wanted to be on the road by 8:30, to put us there around 9:30- early enough to snag some tables close to one another, and set up the party stuff.
We pulled onto the highway at 9, however, after having to stop for gas first. The kids were engrossed with their video games, though, so it wasn't too loud of a car ride. Normally I am the driver in the family, but Nick went ahead and did the driving around for me.
