As you all know, I was sick most of last week. I'll start off by saying things were better over the weekend, though I have had a head cold since last Friday- stuffed sinuses, runny nose, sinus headaches, the whole she-bang, plus a sore throat to boot.
Then comes Nick. Nick apparently had a touch of what I had last week at the same time, but no where near as bad. However, it not being as bad meant that it just didn't expell from his body as quickly as it did mine. He's been pretty bad the last few days.
He's home today again, still icky and sick.
Then there's Chris. Last week, he came home with ear pain. Most doctors have joined the mindset that antibiotics for an ear infection isn't as helpful as it used to be- kids are getting used to antibiotics, so they lose potency. So, for the most part, doctors don't really give them out for it. I didn't take him in, though, either. That was Wed. He slept most of the afternoon, and all night long. We kept him home on Thursday to be on the safe side. He said it didn't hurt at all, just felt plugged up.
He was fine on Friday, and all weekend. Then early Monday morning, he woke up just sobbing in pain because the other ear hurt. So, we kept him home, and took him to the med center yesterday. The ear that hurt last week has a mild infection, but nothing in the other ear that hurt yesterday. Because of his past history of being unable to shake an infection on his own (he's had tubes twice now), they did perscribe an antibiotic. I took him home, gave him some motrin, and had him lay down. Nick was home, so I went over to Walmart to get his perscription.
The "15 minute wait" turned into just over an hour. And even then, they were -just- finishing it as I waited at the counter. When I came home, I made a gross discovery. Chris's ear (the one that hurt) was draining. Gross. I hate ear drainage. It was draining all day and evening long. Chris said it was all wet and gross this morning, but he hasn't had any draining since. We kept him home today, though, because he had a fever last night, and was listless and not feeling good.
Because the school didn't have school last Friday, he hasn't been to school since he came home early last Wed. A full week! Ahh, well. With the antibiotic in him, hopefully he'll be fine tomorrow. I don't want him to miss his Halloween party. Thankfully, though, we ARE Trick or Treating indoors. No worry about wind on his ears.
So.. I'm almost set to get Gilly on the bus, then I must go to Walgreens and get something for Nick. I won't even get into what he needs, or why. Suffice to say, he's just not feeling good.
Oh- and I'm currently at 1500 points even. :) Not bad, considering I haven't really been active here over the last week, except picture posts and an article here or there.
