A news conference broadcast on C-Span this morning sounds a lot like desparation on the part of democrats.
The message was very clear that the Democrats want us out of Iraq before Bush is out of office so it can be portrayed as a Republican failure. They're even going as far as calling this no longer "Bush's war", but a "Republican war", even though many Republicans have begun to waver in their support for the war. It's pretty obvious that the real sense of urgency for the dems is to get out and fail before the recent successes go too far.
The fear is that, if the Democrats win in 2008, they don't want to be portrayed as the party that "surrendered" to the insurgents and terrorists, but would love to pin that on Republicans.
This is truly a disgrace to put party politics in front of all other issues and I hope that the voters can see through this charade.

Dancing with my Dream (Vote Round Two)"
There seems to be a lot of flip-flopping with a lot of the candidates.
Seems to me that the Democrats are doing everything and anything that any big-government-cheering, statist/loyalist, leftist-cum-"conservative" (albeit "open-minded") would want!
Whats the problem?
Don't worry, Dan. I know how this one plays out (I already read the script.... don't tell anyone, ok?). Here's what happens:
The Democrats tell everyone that they want nothing more than to end the occupation in Iraq, prevent a war from happening in Iran, and reign in the Bush administration's unconstitutional power grabs.
The Republican's pretend like ending the disasterous Iraq occupation would be tantamount to "defeat" and we'd be "running away with our tails between our legs" if the Democrats get their way.
When the bombs start falling in Iran, Bush and the Republicans are going to say its because Iran was killing our troops in Iraq. They will present "evidence" to prove this, and because the purported "evidence" will be coming from military sources, anyone questioning the validity of it will be acccused of "slandering our troops," (and lots of open-minded "conservatives" will be calling for arresting and executing the "traitors' who do question it). the Democrats will say their hands were tied, and could not stop it from happening.
Gas prices will go through the roof, the American economy will go into reverse, and the US dollar will be rendered completely worthless by the inflationary flood of money that foreign debt-holders will be dumping back into our economy when the OPEC nations start trading exclusively in Euro's and Yen.
Things will get so bad here that the UN will be invited by Bush to help "keep the peace" (with the help of Blackwater), and the IMF/World Bank will offer to intervene with one of their [in]famous "austerity programs."
A new currency will be introduced here, and simultaneuously in Mexico and Canada (this will be especially easy since now the Dollar has been systematically destroyed and is almost exactly even with the Canadian dollar for the first time in decades -- coincidence I'm sure). The Federal Reserve Bank will be merged with the Canadian and Mexican central banks (this has already been happening piecemeal behind the scenes, as our "regulatory bodies" have also been "harmonizing" as per the SPP agreement).
the Council on Foreign Relations will cheer as their "plan for the world" (as David Rockefeller put it) will be coming to fruition here in North America, as it already has in Europe over the last few decades.
But we won't be cheering when we find out that the new "regional parliament" and "North American" court system will supercede our own Constitution and Supreme Court.
I would say you can come back to this article, to this comment, and marvel about how amazingly accurate this comment turned out to be; but I'm not so sure that we'll have free access to the internet at that point, so...
Whoever wins in 2008 will be dealing with this and will find it's not as simple as a lot of people make it appear.
