If Fred Thompson does well enough in the pre-election polls, there's a good chance that I'll vote for him. I really don't care much for any of the candidates currently in the lead (although I'm still favoring Obama).

Jay Leno? I don't think so.

I've been excited about his finally making this announcement since the rumors of his running started months ago. You can learn a lot about him from his website. He is what this country needs. A lot of people on gather have been saying things about him in an attempt to put him in a bad light, and much of it is petty and blown up out of proportion (he was a lobbyist.....so what?) and things about his beautiful wife, Jeri (a trophy wife....so what again), all in an effort to discourage people from checking out his political views. I suggest to everyone to visit his website www.imwithfred.com and learn more about him. I truly believe he will be out next president, and this is a good thing for everyone.

Finally!! Seems like I've been waiting forever for the man to announce!

Fred Thompson is a "Reagan" conservative, and is just the shot in the arm the Republicans need.

For one thing he is sneeky. I think he found a way around the campain laws about fund raising. He has been a candidate for some time and recognised as one moreso than some announced candidates. This allowed him to build up his funds with no accoountability I think. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.

I am one who picks a candidate on his Record. By the record BEFORE becoming a candidate (long before) one can tell what he truly believes not what his political posturing is. He might or might not be a good second choice.

I don't really trust anyone to lead our country that has lived the Hollywood lifestyle. He spent a lot of time in the limelight and I think maybe he's looking at the presidency as another limelight to get into. On a separate note, I don't really like the fact that he's stayed out of the race this long. It was decided a long time ago that this campaign period was going to start a lot earlier than most and he decided to test the waters rather than jumping in. He lost a little bit of respect from me because he was either indecisive or trying to manipulate his campaign by waiting til now.

Col- He has had to disclose his contributers already filed one report and will file another. Their is accountablitiy just like any other exploratory commitee. I admire him for waiting he said let the other endlessly campaign and I will announce when cantidates traditionally announce. I say way to go Fred! Fred actually understands government and the consitution. His ideas are great for America.

Well, it certainly wasn't a surprise. I think he would have been more impressive if he had shown up for the Republican debate instead of going to Leno. He has built a large following without giving up a clue of what he stands for. Now, he needs to start talking.

I actually just read in my local paper where Thompson will be speaking in a town just a few minutes from here. Might have tyo go check him out. Of course have watched him for years on Law and Order, but certainly wouldn't vote based on that. Might vote for Leno, however!

Do people like the character he played on Law and Order or Fred Thompson? Because being able to play a good guy on TV is easy for an actor. That is a far reach from who he really is. I would feel better knowing that people find out about Fred Thompson instead of thinking he really is District Attorney Arthur Branch, from Law and Order.
