I was watching Good Morning America this morning, and they said they found a free 411 service. You have to listen to commercials to get the service, however. The total call takes about 1 minute and 45 seconds with the commercials.
So here's the number to call:

It will save anywhere from $1.00 to $1.79 per call depending on your carrier. Maybe the phone companies will catch on that we're not prisoners to their service.
I just tried it and it works great.
Something else I do is to carry a phone book in my car and that's even better!
