We shiver and tighten our collars to try to keep it out of our bones.
Children climb aboard the school buses, off for the the day.
Lunch boxes clutched in hands, book packs on their backs as they chatteringly clamber aboard.

The trees begin to shift gears into cold mold with bright colors as they pull the nutrients out of their leaves and back up trunks to hold them through the harsh times.
Scarecrows leave gardens and appear by steps and gates to greet visitors.
Pumpkins get big, fat and round as we eye them and dream of the pies to come.
It's defintely October, as the rain pours down to Earth from dark gray skies.
Halloween is almost here as children talk of tricks and treats, and choose their costumes from catalog, store or mom's patterns.
The stores display aisles of candy for lines of happy buyers with costumes over arms,
and parties planned in minds.
The kids point out more and more, and an occasional NO, gets heard here and there.
Halloween is almost here.
