We all have been told at one point or another that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that is quite true. But how many of us actually take the time necessary to eat or prepare a nutritious breakfast meal? When my son was young I never forgot when it was time to eat. He was programmed for 3 squares and a few snacks. That helped me with the breakfast dilemma. I always made sure that he got something nutritious. But I didn't always eat at the same time he did. So, there I would be several hours later....famished. This is not a good thing because then we often choose the wrong foods.
Just a few years ago when I found a job with consistent hours I began to eat breakfast regularly. Some mornings I wake up hungry and sometimes I just eat because it has become a habit. Not only that, breakfast is now one of my favorite meals. I look for variety and there seems to be plenty of that in the grocery stores these days. I do have a weakness for this morning meal. I often enjoy a breakfast that is sweet. As the day goes on my desire for sweets dimishes and I like it that way.
So, I was wondering how gather members feel about breakfast. Do you make time for breakfast? Do you eat about the same thing every day or do you become bored and try new meals? What type of beverage do you like first thing in the morning? Are there any smoothie fans here? I am..:) Also, what is your favorite breakfast meal? Mine is pancakes.
I look forward to your responses. I am a bit of a foodie so if you can give me any new ideas I would love to try them..:)

What I usually start with is fruit (sour, then sweet) followed by some protein, which would be either an egg or some nuts. What I like to do with the nuts (when I think about it ahead of time) is to soak them, as that releases the enzymes and makes them more digestible. I use 2 tbsp. each of flaxseed, almonds, and walnuts (though you could use other nuts), soak them overnight, rinse them, add enough water to make them easily grindable as a goop, (I use a 1-cup blender container) and add a bit of sugar and salt for flavoring, and grind it all up. I call it my "nut cold cereal." I only eat 1/2 cup as it is rich and filling.
As for a recipe, I have a very basic one. My boyfriend and I really like breakfast wraps. I apologize for the non-measurement in the recipe below, but i just make it with whatever I feel like having more of, so it changes.
Tortillas(the big ones)
Eggs(1-2 scrambled per wrap)
Shredded cheddar(a handful, whatever looks appropriate for the amount of eggs)
Bacon(1-2 pieces, you can put them on there whole, but makes it easier to eat if you cut it in strips, i use scissors).
If you're really going to go all out(or trying to use up stuff, you can put hash browns, different types of cheese, ive tried nacho cheese before that wasn't too bad)
gluten-free diet
nightshade-free diet (no potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers--though I cheat sometimes--these foods give me arthritis pains)
natural hygiene diet (proper food combining)
low-carb diet (Atkins, sort of)
Blood type diet ( "Eat Right for Your Type by Dr. Peter D'Adamo)
Guess I will have to write an article!
These are my guidelines. But as I said, I do cheat.....
