Can't Keep Up: Please Forgive!

Hello all! There are many folks who get WAY more comments than I do, but I just can't keep up with replies, though I'd like to. I figure that posting things here on Gather has its responsibilities, too, and that includes being a community participant. I'm trying, so I hope you don't despair if my comments come to you infrequently. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you comment? Do you have a methodology?

Does get difficult but the email notifications are back so that helps!

I check my physical friends sites first. (After doing my postings or work I wanted to do for the day.) I try to comment on my articles and photos for me posted on "My Gather" and in messages by my contacts first. Then I scan through commens others have sent to my articles and photos. Then I check their work. I can't do this all the time and sometimes sucks up the better part of a day before I realize it, so I have to be careful! Sometimes this occurs in different patterns when I get started on things that lead me to others I'm interested in. (i.e. posting and becoming curious about a group I'm in, a featured article that catches my eye.) Good luck catching up!

Don't sweat it...there are only 24 hours in each day. You can do what you can do and that has to be good enough!!

I try and keep a record of the comments that I returned.

David...I typically try to stay current as I can with my top "connections" and then I try to branch out and comment on every other connection at least once a week...no records, like lovely Jean, just kind of random....of course, you're tops with me :)

I sometimes have this problem, not often but once in a while, I just do my best to get to it, and answer as many as I can each time I log in.

It is hard sometimes to get through everything that comes through on the articles-for-me section. I'm not sure how the e-mail notifications are supposed to work, either. They kind of annoy me because they take a long time to look through just to be told to go somewhere else to read something by somebody. I'm starting to just delete them unopened. What is the purpose of using the e-mail to notify people that you've written something when it will be on their list of articles anyway? The selectivity that the e-mails imply is diluted by their quantity.

Well, David, for what it's worth, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today, just from being away from Gather for one day while I visited with my folks. SO MUCH to catch up on! I also am going to read how everyone does their own "catching up" here after I post this comment. Hope someone's ideas and thoughts are able to help you (and me too! ;-D )

I try to comment on the people that comment on my stuff first, then I go through my contacts and try to comment on their stuff. I haven't been on here a whole lot lately so I have alot to make up for.

I don't think you'll ever be able to keep up with everyone. Don't worry about it. We come to see your work because it's fabulous, not because we expect something in return. At least, that's me. :)

David, I do the best I can to keep up. I fell Oct.11/2007 and it took until Jan. before I could stand to sit at my computer for any length of time. I was just getting a handle on my regular email when on 2/22 I came down with a cold that turned into the flu. I am now well and playing catch up. I have over 1000 Gather emails to go thru.

That wasn't a complaint about Gather emails. I don't want to miss anything. It will just take awhile.

David, I am still out of town, and am having a time trying to get in any gather time! The email notifications help me. I have a separate email that all of gather goes into. That has been a big help!
