I come from the land down under…Actually, no I don't, but I'd love to visit! Have you ever been to Sydney, Australia? Is it on your list of places you're dying to see? I've never been but have always wanted to go to Australia. the closest I have been to Sidney was on my trip with Nemo! LOL!

I have never been but I would LOVE to go. After having several Gather friends from down under, I am even more interested to go there and see that beautiful land. Before Gather, I didn't really realize the number of tropical looking birds that are so common there.

I have been several times. A beautiful city with fun pubs. Never had time to sight-see because I was always there for three days working.

I did get up early and run out to and around the opera house in your picture. A wonderful way to start the day.

I would love to go to Australia PERIOD. It's on my list. My mother's cousin's son is a championship surfer and they live there. My son wants to go surfing with him. Perhaps in just a few years we'll finally get there. Personally, I want to go to a place where I can hold and pet koalas. :) Koalas are my favorite!

I have lots of places that I want to travel to someday, and Sydney is one of them! The only places I've traveled outside the US are Cananda, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. Someday I'll make it down under, hopefully!

I have never been able to travel anywhere outside of Canada. Being introduced to gather I have been to a lot of fabulous places through photos and articles. This is one remarkable group of ppl.

I just re-read my comment and it sounds like I have been stopped from leaving Canada.................I meant I have not had the money to travel....HAHA

One of my best friends and her husband just returned from an Australian tour; which included New Zealand. I'm going to encourage her to share her experience here on gather. Have a good day everyone!

I visit Australia every few years - I have close family living in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra.

I love Sydney - Circular Key, the Manly Ferry, the shopping, the Opera House and much, much more.

I hate the humidity, though!

Yes... It was wonderful... Well worthwhile, like many other places in Australia...
Didn't stay there long, but saw enough... I would certainly go back to see more...
It's a great place to walk... We stayed in an old B&B style 'hotel' in the city... It was interesting to take a walk and see a fountain of the exact same style as one in Houston, likely by the same sculptor/designer (like a dandelion)...

Ishbel R's mention of the ferry's is spot on. Riding the ferry is a great way to spend the day. Also do not miss Bondi and Manly Beach.

I hvae a relative who lives directly overlooking the beach at Manly. The ferry is probably one of the cheapest and best fun things to do in Sydney.

I will also add, no trip to Sidney is complete without a stroll through the botanical garden. I loved to go there just to sit under a tree and read.......ah, that was heaven on earth.

Hi Christine, What a great idea! I have been to Sydney. I lived there for 2 years infact and loved it :) I will definitely post something about my experiences in Sydney.
