My Gather proceedure

lol, need to learn to delete those masses...i am already connected to these people and will get to their postings by going to "articles for me"...why do they DO this,i wonder,Carol?? you are better set in your ways than i, for sure!!1 :)

Nope, not that organized. I'm all over the place. LOL.

Since I get glimpses of the messages sent to my non-Gather email, I know which ones I have to delete and which ones I do not. Then when I do get to gather, I go to my mail and delete the ones that need to be deleted and read the ones that do not. If a response is required, I do that too. Afterwards, I check my connection requests and the group invites and most likely deny them. Then I go comment on my connections' stuff. Then I go comment on random articles.

Sounds about like what I do, for the most part! LOL

Mine just involves commenting and deleting some spam type emails every few minutes :)

Sounds like me, too. Except that I don't mod any groups.

I try to respond to anyone who has comment on my articles or photos. I don't spend much time on group pages -- I should start doing this. Thanks for the prompt.

I don't have any groups so can skip that step. I usually just start with articles for me and skim through the list. I may just go to my notifications list and start returning comments. I try to return every one and that gets time consuming. Recently I have agreed with a few friends not to feel obligated to return each of their comments as we go back and forth a lot.

When I am caught up on returning comments, I like to just look through all the images, but I don't have time for that very often.

Mine vary, but checking comments/responding back are first. Posting new photos are second usually. If I do an article it's usually later in the day after doing some commenting as they take more time.

Doing moderation on my groups is somewhere in the middle of it all.

I don't really have a set order, though I do roughly the same things!
Between deleting the mass email and commenting on pictures, I also post up my own. Usually I wait until I have at least one comment on a picture before I post another one.

And for commenting, I open a lot of tabs with pictures, and then go through and comment and close each tab after I comment. Slows down my computer temporarily to have abut 10 tabs open, but it's effective!

I delete e-mails that don't have my name in the subject line. You just get too many.

I don't take time to delete the emails. Right now it says I have 770. I just ignore them. I have when people send emails, "read my article". If you are my connection and I see your article, if I am interested, I will read it. Really you don't have to send an annoying email! I wish people would use the mail just for private correspondence. Right now, it is of no use to me because I get WAY too much junk!

I do pretty much the same, but I open my gather mail just to see if I need to answer anything. I try to comment on every connections notification and do comment on at least one of them if they have posted several things. I look at all of them though. I comment on every submission to my group. I try to find time to publish but lately I run out of time. I check out the front page of Gather also for new and interesting items and the features.

I usually start with my e-mail box because there is a lot of them.
Within the first hour I check my page for gather mail and do that.
Then I go back to my e-mail till I get exhausted.
I check my Gather Main Page every hour or hour and a half.
Before I close for the night I like to make sure my Gather Mail is done and my e-mail box is empty.

i check my pending comments and approve them and go and comment back on everyone who commented for me. then I check my connections and group invites, then i check my email. then i go to my group and approve everything and if it is related to the group theme i comment on it, then I go to my gather and start commenting on stuff that catches my eye

I am still experimenting. I like to put my new connections aside and get to those pages but I do not always have time so I have still have to work that out. And if I get a new group the same. Since my e-mail box is usually full I have to work on a different schedule to get to things I like to do.

I don't let comments pend, I think if someone wants to leave a derogatory comment for all to see then they should be seen.

Emails are the last place I go....I just cleared out over 200 and about five were of actual interest. The rest were links to things that I have already seen and commented on. ARGH

haven't set a pattern yet. I'm usually on while feeding the grandson. he's up to 17 lbs now. 10 weeks tomorrow.

I am trying to figure out the best way to handle my limited time on Gather, so this was an interesting discussion.

I check my email first to see who all commented on my articles and pictures. Then I go to leave comments and then comment on them.

Then I go to gather to see what groups what me to sign up and new people.

Then I go to the pictures site in gather and rate all of my friends who have sent picture.

After that I go to my articles. After I am finished I go to pictures to rate people who are not under me and for more points.

I do just about the same as you...I often get distracted and wander way far away from where I originally started. It's fun. I find new things to look at and read.

I don't really have a method - I just do whatever I feel like at the moment. Usually I read all my people's new stuff and then often I check the Gather front page and see what's going on there. Then, sometimes, I'll follow someone around and see what they are commenting on. I love reading my people's comments and then if I think the comment sounds fun, going to that article.

I go thru emails first and delete all duplicates. Then go to my gather where the recent ones are written, then venture to a few favorite people and about once a week I go to my groups...I should be more organized like you.

That's virtually the same sequence I go through with the exception that I delete my email last.

You have asked a good question Carol. Although we all do the same things, just about, does the order in which we do them have any significance? The first thing I do is check the articles and other content published since the last time I was online. I then open in tabs anything of interest that I need to comment on, or read further. I typically end up with about 30 tabs open. I then bookmark all the tabs as a group so that I can easily choose them from a list later.

After this, I hit my Gather mail and then moderate content for my groups. I only visit my group invitation page once a week or less.

I am always looking for ways to make things easier, and one of the techniques I love the most is monitoring comment threads for activity. I am notified automatically when any content I choose receives a comment. Even if the content isn't written/published by me, or if the comment is posted by someone weeks later. This saves me a LOT of time as I never have to revisit threads just to see if there was any activity since I last commented.

I do different things on different days. everyday i scan and delete the gather mass email, and check my group and people connections. then on alternate days i either respond to people commenting or commenting in the groups i own. i found it way easier when i linked up with gmail. i have gather to notify me when someone comments on my stuff. i check my gmail and can easily see everyone who i need to comment on. i also recently set up google reader to subscribe to my groups..... this has made it so easy for me to comment on gather as i can easily see what is there as some items are similar posts in several groups (a big time saver). i also will check the front page to see people i am not connected to.
