I got "booed" and I am delighted about it. It is a very sweet treat to get "booed" just before Halloween. I'm now going to prepare to "boo" someone else.
Now you are either asking yourself what the heck I am talking about or you are one of the those who knows about the new tradition that is fast sweeping all across neighbourhoods. I'll admit I had never heard of it until a lady comes to my line a few days ago at the store and tells me she has been booed and that she has to reciprocate. I got booed the very next night by a neighbour of mine and I was at least lucky enough that I knew what to do.
The explanation:
To be booed, is to receive a gift basket prepared by someone in your neighbourhood filled with candy and halloween themed (cheap) gifts. There is a note provided saying that you have been "booed" and in return for your treat you must return to favor to another neighbour of your choice within 24 hours. You then put a sign in a window near your door saying that you have been "booed" so that you don't get "booed" again. You may use the same basket for the next family that you "boo" but you should change the items to something else.
Here is the note that I received:
Halloween's a coming,
The Owl says, "Hooty-Hoo",
Bats and witches are humming,
This little ghost says "BOO!"
You have officially been "Booed" this Halloween.
Keep the fun going by copying this message.
Surprise a neighbor with a boo basket from you.
And place a ghost sticker (enclosed) in your window
So everyone will know you've been "booed".
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
I love traditions at holiday time and this one will now become a new one for my family as I think it's tons of fun. The important thing though that I will follow is not so much candy as the big night is all about the candy. It's better in my opinion to add little halloween theme gifts, like coloring books and board books that are cheap. A few game trinkets that can be bought at the dollar store or even some halloween makeup and such. Of course, a little candy in there will sweeten the deal.
Have a happy and safe halloween to all my connections and gather friends.

Last night I passed about candy from my porch....a majority of chocolate...because I love chocolate...but I had to keep myself from eating all that chocolate...and I didn't have to many trick-or-treaters...so I took what I had left to a little halloween get to-gether down the street from my house...though I had no intentions of going I did not know what I was gonna do with 20 bags of chocolate...besides eat them all...lol =]
Happy belated halloween!
