The zealousness of a new, born-again Christian, wet from baptism, must not be extinguished by the wishy-washy world that tried to pull them into its grasp. That same fire, born in our spirits by the pull of the Holy Spirit, has the ability to carry us through our trials and tribulations until we reach Glory.
We are so busy worrying about tomorrow, we fail to take care of today. God is not a man that He should lie, and He says 'take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.' Matt 6:34
There are people in this world that thrive on the evil in their lives, the mischief they can do, and the pain they can cause others. The can be classified simply as being sadistic. A sadist enjoys inflicting pain upon others and it also gives them gratification. They find pleasure in being cruel by stealing the zeal from new believers. Oh, if they could just see how they affect the lives of others instead of being so blinded by the pleasures of sin in their own lives. These sadists are like pigs that enjoy the folly of frolicking in the mud-slinging dirt of this world.
Matt 7:6-8 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Someone once said, "Don't wrestle with a pig. You will both get dirty and the pig likes it." Yet the church today is guilty of fighting to clean the swine. We are dressing pigs in costumes so they can trample under foot the things of God. Every once in a while these very people will come to church all dressed up. They will put on their best outfit and sport all their best finery. They look like they are clean and fixed up, ready to receive a word from God. It's like going to the County Fair and looking at the pigs, all washed and clean, but just turn your back, for a second, and they will run back to the mud puddle from which they came.
Why do you suppose these people honestly believe they can impersonate a child of God? Is it possible we have made the Gospel too easy? Church doctrine has been made too easy. We have made it so convenient to go to church that we open the doors to our sanctuaries just about anytime anyone wants to have a service. We can go to church on Saturday, two, three, or even four times on Sunday, mid-week on Wednesday, and even on Thursday. We have made it very convenient for everyone to be in church, and yet, most people aren't there. Have we made it seem so complacent, so unnecessary, that it has lost it's importance? Is it only a place to show yourself to be accepted into the click of worshippers.
What would happen if every time you wanted to attend a service you had to search out a church to attend? You would find out, expeditiously, just who really wanted to be there. Who would deem the Word of God as a necessity in their lives, or who didn't want to be in church at all, putting it off until a better, more convenient time. You would know who wanted to serve God and who didn't just by who was present. If service times had to be kept secret, meeting at four o'clock in the morning, and having to use signals or passwords, how many would put forth the effort to even show up? Some would just give up or not even try to attend in the first place believing it was too much work. We shouldnt give up. We should never, ever give up.
Attending church seems to turn off so many people, yet, the message preached is the most important word in savng their lives. It shouldn't matter who is there, whether they are sinners, hypocrites, true saints, apostles, or disciples. Even the disciples told the children to stay away, but Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me."
We can hear God, if we will listen to Him saying, "Hey, here I am." We are so busy waiting on every thing else that we are not wanting to serve the Lord. We should be saying, "Put a fire inside of us, Lord." Let it burn inside of us all. We should want to see His table taken care of before we set our own. I want to see what He is doing before I check the football scores on T.V.. We should want to see God. Ask Him to put a fire that burns away every unprofitable, unpoductive, unneeded chaff. Chaff isn't any good. You can't use it. It has no value. "God, put a fire in us that will burn all the chaff out of us."
Once you go through that fire, you will come out cleaner, purer, more productive and more profitable. Before the pressure is applied, a lump of coal is bought by the ton. After the pressure, you buy it by the carat. You can spend a fortune on coal. If I bought a thousand dollars worth of coal, it would at least, fill a pickup truck. But, if I spent a thousand dollars on a diamond, you could hold it on your finger. What's the difference? One has gone through the pressure. The other is going to get burned. I want to go through the pressure that I might become productive. I may not be that noticeable, but I'm going to be worth something to God. The only way is to have a fire on the inside. Fire on the outside will burn the coal, but fire on the inside will produce a diamond. "Lord, put a fire back in our souls that we might become a diamond for You,"

The need for us to make our Christian life not an automatic bend of mind, but to let spirituality sink deep in us.
