There is somethung seriously wrong with us Americans. We spend billions of dollars a year on what is fundamentally useless entertainment. Don't get me wrong I support arts of all kind and think atheletes are intitled to their fair share of the revenue that they generate. My problem is with the people cashing the checks. Some of these people that are disgustingly rich "give their time" to help the unfortunate. Bono of U2 is idolized for all of the charity work he does. Great keep it up. But what about the millions and millions collecting dust in your bank account. That would help more than your endorsement of a needy cause. For God's sake Oprah opened up a school in Africa to help the children. Great start, next time help a little closer to home. Their are children starving in Chicago where you work/live. Are they not worthy? She could have purchased square miles in the "bad areas" and opened up housing for the less fortunate. Dekembe Mutombo opened a hospital in his native Africa with over $20 million of his own money. He should be an inspiration for all of those who are in a position to do great things. To really make an impact we all have to do what we can to improve our enviorment. I think that the excessively rich should be taxed extra-heavily to help start programs to end poverty, give homes to those without and clean up the ghettos. These problems are not going to fix themselves. I just wish I was in a better position so that I could put millions toward cleaning up my home town. Iremember driving through Lower Wacker Dr in Chicago and saw a father holding his daughter over the trash to find dinner. It's just heart breaking.
