Murals in Kindergarden - Cooperative Art

A kindergarten teacher is a jack of all trades.  In my school, kindergarten does not have specialists coming in to teach music, art or PE...and so it's left up to the teacher to do all these plus teach reading, writing, math, social studies and science.  Believing the arts are important, I try to think of projects that will entice the children to use various mediums.  These are some of the murals done for our Mother Earth Day Literary Concert. The children used magic markers on white foam boards.  Working in pairs, there was much discussion among the artists as to how the final piece would look.

Works two ways flit....I am so happy to have shared a year with them. Imagine seeing the world everyday through the eyes of not one six year old...but 39 sets of eyes. Quite amazing, I must say!

I love that you let them experience creativity and don't expect them to "stay between the lines" of life! I think your students are very creative and extremely lucky to have such a inovative teacher such as yourself!

"staying between the lines" was never one of my virtues growing up and goes against every grain in my body Susan...and so, as a teacher, I do not strive for that. I want them to pull from what is inside them and express that!

I am the Mom of one of her students, and here we are at the end of the school year! I do truly feel lucky to have experienced this great year together. You are all right...her students are very lucky to have her. Amazing what she has accomplished in the limited hours of each day. A heartfelt Thank you !!

Amy...I think I have wonderful, creative, well behaved students. They are all hard workers and really strive to do their best.

Dee, I have some of the most supportive parents in the world...at a drop of the hat they are willing to lend me a hand. Our reading and math programs are quite academic and if the parents did not provide the support they do on the homefront, I am sure our results would be far less then they are. Together, parents working with teachers for the success of the student- is the formular for success.

What a great afternoon with the kids...I love the raffle for the books and the murals and the rainforest flowers. Thanks for helping make the P.M. Alyssa, strange thing is, you can go back to kindergarten again. Choice is yours...teaching is a wonderful vocation if you so choose.

Bob - they have produced some spectacular work! I still remember my kindergarten teacher as she also inspired us all to flex our creative abilities.

Thanks Laurie and Tonia for stopping by. Have my company till Tuesday so am not doing much Gathering except during the early morn when every one is still asleep. Have to shower and get dressed and go clean my classroom some more.
