Scientist discover new species

There has been 24 new species discovered in the southeastern region of South America. The report eludes the responsibility of these new species (which consist of 1 frog, 6 fish, 12 dung beetles and 1 ant species) to the recent gold mining being done in South America. I was wondering the same thing to Gaelyn but by the discription of the area that I've found it seems to be mostly rainforest and natural habitat. There are lakes and rivers in abundance in South America so it's not AS unlikely as you would be thought. Plus, they aren't mining in the water, but perhaps close to that region.

Cheri, I am also disappointed. There are very few undisturbed natural habitats left on this planet.

Gaelyn...maybe it is because of the mercury they are using. I'm sure that new species evolved out of the necessity to adapt to the changes in the environment.
