The day Sam Waterston gets GOOD at what he's doing - a press tour - will be the day I stop believing him. Kudos to Unity08, and kudos to the "Party-FREE" approach Unity08 is taking toward truly taking an EVOLUTIONARY way America chooses its leadership.
The intentions and the ideals are fantastic. There'll surely be snafus along the way, but so far, so good.
It's not "conservative," it's not "liberal;" it's not even a PARTY per se. Unity08 is a rather interesting twist on the "old" marketplace website model, dedicated to bringing together buyers and sellers under one roof to meet each other on a more balanced and fair playing field.
Though they're not a full-fledged party, they're using party terminology in their evolutionary approach toward grass-roots politics.
What makes it unique is that the sellers are candidates; the buyers are voters - you and me. The "brands" of the seller - be they Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green, etc - are rather unimportant; agnostic if you will.
Unity08 does not have its own "party" per se, although they are making no bones about the possibility of one day becoming a party. We shall see.
For now, they are promoting the primary value of "cutting out the middleman" of the PARTY affiliation, and giving voters front-and-center attention of candidates.
It will be exciting to see if Unity08 takes hold.
John
