More tha 1.3 millions US soldiers have died in military conflicts and countless more have been wounded or disabled. Civilian death tolls are even higher. The surprising fact is the number of military casualties during times of peace.

As United States citizens we should all remember and honor those who have served or lost their lives fighting on behalf of the USA.

During the Civil War it was General William Sherman who said, "War is hell". More than 200 years and 29 US military conflicts later no truer words have ever been spoken.

Sort of makes you wonder why we keep participating in wars, doesn't it. Surely there must be some better way of resolving things like Hitler and Stalin.

The world is a dangerous place. We owe a great deal to those that have and do serve; in peace or times of war. They know that at any time, they may be called to give the ultimate sacrifice. Bless them all.

Too bad many were lost in unnecessary conflicts like Vietnam, Korea, and now Iraq....The soldiers are still heroes...The leaders are not! Kuwait, Grenada, and that other island rescue that Clint Eastwood pulled off, but escapes my mind were all acceptable military actions to rescue nations under attack.

It's about time we held war crimes trials for Bush, and Cheney for falsifying information that lead to the Iraq debacle. The US has done some very unsavory military actions over the past 50 years. The soldiers are not to blame for those actions. God is not on our side when our leaders murder innocent men, women, and children.
