The book This Is Our War: A Soldiers' Portfolio: Servicemen's Photographs of Life in Iraq presents 256 photos that GQ collected from American servicemen and women, in order to tell the story of America's Iraq experience with their pictures in their own voices. This is a candid soldier's-eye view of war. It's the conflict the way they see it: apolitically, intimately, with honesty and humor and courage. This is a snapshot of history in the making.
Through Veterans Day, ten articles will be posted to veterans.gather.com, each with a picture from the book included. Show your support for our soldiers by leaving a comment for the picture posted. Gather will randomly select one member who comments on this article to receive a copy of This Is Our War.

Thank you for the opportunity to see the book!
I'm proud of all of the soldiers that served and I pray that they all make it home, so they can see their family and friends. I'm also glad they have that book full of pictures, pictures speak for themselves. It will give us a chance to see what happened in Iraq.
PAY IT FORWARD
Spartan I will make every effort to attend the Live chat.
But I imagine it will be in the arms, head or shoulder position...that look that says they know they are in harms way and that bad things can happen.
Speedy - Spartan: I would love to win a copy of this book, of course, to give it away. I would like to buy a copy of the book (if it will be made available to the civilians...???) for me to keep and share it with my children / my siblings / my niece who is in. Will you let us know, please? I would really love to hear that the profits from the sales of the books will go to PVA or other vetran's service groups, to cover some of the costs that are not being paid by the $%$%$%$ government for our soldiers.

I can never look at these pictures or read these articles without tears streaming down my face. Something visceral just takes over. Perhaps I am reminded of my father, or perhaps it is just the mighty weight of the knowledge of the toll that is being paid by so many that comes to bear at the slightest reminder.
This book is a good thing. I hope it becomes widely available.
Thank You to each and every soldier for working so hard to keep the citizens of the United States safe.
Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Stay Safe. You have my support.
These intimate portraits reflect the dangers of this war and the bravery of both those in the photos and those who photograph them.
God bless you every one.
They finally figured out that it was from something he had breathed in during his 2nd tour from the blown up Bradley's he was transporting.
He is still a driver over there and is near Ramidi (?).
He received a broken arm during his first tour, falling off a ladder while rebuilding a school.
This book will be so amazing. I hope I win so I can see some of what he has seen, not just what is on the news.
Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
