While at work on Friday, my coworker came up and asked if I knew who got hurt. I wasn't sure what she was talking about. I just looked at her. She made me wonder what the heck she was talking about. But I was in the middle of something so I wasn't going to ask her.
So a little while later my boss came and asked me if I had access to the deployment list. I said yeah, I sure do. What's going on? It was at this point I found out what was going on. She told me that TSgt Brown was seriously injured in Iraq. We needed to look at finding a replacement for him. So I quickly got to work pulling the information that she needed.
About an hour later we had a promotion ceremony for one of the guys at work. At the end of the ceremony our commander let everyone know what was going on so that the rumours wouldn't fly. TSgt Brown was seriously injured in a convoy operation outside the wire. He has shrapnal hit both his legs. This happened on Thursday. He went though surery and was holding his own. They were waiting for him to be stable enough for him to travel to Landstuhl Hospital in Germany. Even though I didn't know him at all. I pray that he makes a full recovery.
